[Punggol] Primary Schools
-
Hi Mrs. Wong,
Thanks for your feedback. My kid is in Greendale primary 1 and my sentiments are exactly as what you’ve written.
As a FTWM, it is easier for me to cope with his scheduled work but can’t help worrying that he’s not progressing accordingly. In fact, I found the standard of his Topical Test 4(no SA2) was very easy as compared to other schools.
I’m in dilemma if I should transfer him to another school. If so, where? Sigh. -

How are his results like?Hi Mrs. Wong,

If transfer to another school, you must have a good reason for the other school to accept your child if they have the vacancy.
Alternative is to push him from home. Set higher standards by giving other school's exams papers.
All I hope for my students in the long run is that they build good basics, do well for PSLE & move on to good secondary schools. If they can be stretched, I will stretch them during tuition. If they prefer to be in their comfort zone, then I'll just have to slowly nudge them out of it. -
Thanks again, Mrs. Wong for your feedback and tips.
His score is above average for all subjects. As much as I want him to be happy and enjoy his childhood, I would also think he needs to be stretch a little. I’m worried that when he gets too comfortable, he’ll not be prepared for PSLE in future.
As a FTWM, I don’t really have the time to teach him. Mainly just ask him to do some assessment papers over the weekend. Really need teachers that can guide and motivate him.
Really dilemma! -

When the schools don't push, it's the parents who need to do the pushing. But parents also have limitations (work commitments). Thanks again, Mrs. Wong for your feedback and tips.

That's why I have many students from there. School does not push & parents need to work, so the solution for their kids is tuition.
You can try getting a tutor for him. Tell the tutor the purpose you are hiring him/her (to stretch the child) so that the teacher can prepare materials suitable for the purpose.

Someone did ask about Horizon Primary School in this forum. Any feedback now that it has started running? It is so new that there is little information on it except that the principal is from Eunos Primary School...
From some of the feedback about new schools, I am just wondering aloud if Horizon would be the same. It is so contradicting isn't it? On one hand, we worry about the stress level, yet on the other, we are concerned if the standard would be too low and pump in with tuition and more challenging questions at home...

Only start of the year getting kanchiong liau…
New school - no balloting, single session…so tempting… -
Just wondering - can there be a new poll to reflect the ‘aspirations’ of the next P1 registration (rather than an accumulation from last year’s).
And should include Horizon Primary School too… -
concern2:
The poll will remain as is to reflect the historical preferences of parents. I have included Horizon in the poll. Thanks for the suggestion!Just wondering - can there be a new poll to reflect the 'aspirations' of the next P1 registration (rather than an accumulation from last year's).
