To add on to lexis’s question on the Chinese storybook, how about Animal Farm, are the students expected to read it themselves and lesson time is used for discussion? Should they read now or wait for the teacher’s instruction? If wait for teacher’s instruction, are they given sufficient time/notice to read before class? I know parents worry too much…but can’t help it.

Don't need to wait, should ask the boys to read them at home. Teachers will not go through these books in detail in class.

Panic, not much time left....how about the Chinese storybooks? Are they for own reading or will it be used and tested in class?

Are they for own reading or will it be used and tested in class?[/quote]For me, my teacher instructed my class to read 不上補習班的第一名 during the March holidays and 西遊記 during the June holidays. Afterwards, my teacher gave a comprehension exercise of 不上補習班的第一名 in Term 2 and a presentation projet work on 西遊記 in Term 3, where I pair up with a classmate and do a presentation on a section of 西遊記 in front of the class.

This may vary from teacher to teacher.

For English, Animal Farm is a very short story, which can be completely read in less than a week. In my case, my English teacher started Animal Farm in Term 3 and made us do comprehension exercises, literary analyses, and we each had to design an Animal Farm newsletter, which was quite fun.

Again, this may vary from teacher to teacher.

              Hope this helps!

Hi Q Pan, were you previously from primary GEP or you were from mainstream, invited to join GEP only upon coming to Sec?

Whichever the case, do the Geppers and the mainstreamers housed under iSpark get along well from your experience? Do the newly joined mainstreamers have problem settling in iSpark doing GEP?

I was from mainstream. In my class, the GEP and mainstream students get along surprisingly well. In the first week of school, everybody had made friends with one another. I will not say that this scenario happens all the time, but it did for me.
