The 默写 given to the kids is actually part of a compo. If there is a compo based on that 默写 given during the SA1/2 and the child remembers what was previously tested, it can be used to write the compo. This gives the child a good start.

Yes, now have Eng dictation as well . Also part of a Eng compo which can help the child (if he/she can remember)

If the child remembers, then of course he/she will do perfectly for the compo. Because the main chunk of the 默写 was ever memorized. Throw in some 开头 and 结尾, the compo will score high marks. It’s possible because a friend’s daughter did that.

I remembered my CL teacher told me not to rely too much on model compo. When too many pupils regurgitated a similar compo, then the compo lost its appeal. The pupil might get high marks for structure but low marks for content.

Hi Jennifer,

It’s not completely a model compo because chances are not all the children will remember that mo xie. How it helps the kids is to give them a headstart instead of spending too much time planning from scratch. Of course they will have to inject in some more phrases here and there to lengthen it and then add in conversation and 结尾 to end it nicely.

My thot too. If a few produce exact same story, score suffers in content/creativity. Like a 'robotic' work.

I guess the purpose of giving parts of the compo as mo xie is to help kids cut down on the planning. Knowing my son, he would forget his mo xie almost immediately after being tested. I thought LKY mentioned something about mo xie being silly. Why are the kids still having that ?

My DS in P6. english spelling consists of phrases. Teacher read out the meaning and he must write the phrase. I believe that it will be a good idea if the teacher teaches how to use those phrases in compo writing rather than just giving it as spelling only.

PS: Need a chinese tutor urgently (1 to 1) any recommendation.TIA
