      Hi Candy08,

      :welcome: to RGS!

      1. English, MT/HMT, Literature, Physics/Bio/Chem, History, Geography, Math, Social Studies & Philosophy. Also third lang, MEP, SAP, RSP if you applied. Of course there's also PE, Aesthetics, D&T (which are non-examinable).

      2. Yes, you can switch to CL if you can't cope.

      3. The assessment structure is a bit complicated. There are written exams, projects, and others. You'll get a better picture during the briefing. Or just leave it to your daughter. πŸ™‚ And yes, all subjects are examinable.

      4. No. First week of school is Orientation. Just fun and games. πŸ™‚
Hi jtoh, History & Biology textbook aren't included in the booklist, does that mean the girls will be given materials later on by the school?

        Hi 25hr mama,

Yes, the teachers will let them know later. I think the teachers give them quite a lot of notes for various subjects. Textbooks are more for reference.

Thanks jtoh, glad to know that some books r more for reference, most of the books are so thick & heavy, hope the girls are not expected to carry them to school every day. Moreover, they r expected to bring the laptop to school everyday right? πŸ™‚

Yes, they are expected to bring their laptop every day. Not every teacher uses the PC for every lesson, but there will be some use every day. Some notes and assignments are distributed via the school website or other websites, so it's useful to have the laptop so they can get started on the work in school - that's how my daughter saves time! As far as I can see, the textbooks that are used most are the CL ones and some of the Lit ones. My daughter usually left her other textbooks in her locker or at home.

Thanks simkhoo for the info. πŸ™‚ So every girl will get her own locker or is it a shared locker in the class?

I think there are enough or nearly enough lockers for each student (someone will correct me if I'm wrong!). My daughter joined late so wasn't able to get a locker outside her classroom, and no-one seemed to know how to get one elsewhere and it wouldn't be as convenient anyway, so she didn't get one. Instead, she was allowed to keep her stuff in a cupboard in the classroom. This is something that your daughter will find out when school starts, I guess.

What will be an appropriate specs for the Macbook Pro/Air to buy?

No need for high-end processing power. i5 processor good enough. Personal preference is Macbook Air because of portability - need to lug around, take public transport, etc., but really up to individual. School will have packages for students, so no need to hurry to buy.

May the Force be with You.

                        Hi 25hr mama,

I don’t think there are Bio and Hist textbooks for Year 1. I didn’t get them last year. The textbook most referenced would be 1.MT 2.Math/Chem/Phys
