Fold and stitch it yourself or find a seamstress in a nearby heartland mall, may cost abt $3-5 per skirt though...Hi,
I urgently need help. Bought my uniform yesterday but skirt is too long... What should I do? -

True and you can potentially wear the same skirt throughout the 4 years. As you grow taller, just release the seams so there is no need to buy new uniform. Girls can still grow tall till 14?

My dd's skirt is slightly below her knees and we asked her to leave it as she is still growing. In recent days, she seems to be able to \"look down\" on me as she is now taller than me.
BTW, does anyone know if the art bag is part of the books cost? We saw folks with that bag later on but we don't have it. Unsure if we paid for it as well. We paid around S$360+ at the books section. -

For my DD, what she did is to roll up the top of the skirt a few rounds. Not very obvious when u don't tuck in the blouse too far.Hi,

Don't cost anything and no seam lines if u lower it as she grows taller later.
She went through one year n seems fine. -

1) i think its relative (you might have high expectations) but i think the school did well. Can anyone provide feedback:
1) O level results 2013 in terms of distinctions/L1R5 scores
2) what the school did to improve O level scores for this year
3) can joining clubs and societies garner 2 points deduction for L1R5?
Thanks in advance!
2) i'm not sure what they did to improve since i dont know what they used to do. but i can tell you the school worked VERY VERY hard. If the students work 10x the teachers work 100x more. i honestly feel sad for some of my teachers because they have to work so hard. -

Don’t recall my DD using the Art bag yet…
I stil cannot get over the fact that the books cost so much ! Although some of the books e.g. science are meant for 2 yrs usage…
Afterall, the girls are using laptop too. There are books whereby only a few pages are utilised … Home Econs , Geog workbook etc. And why do we hav to get hardcover books ? Heavier and cost more too.
By the way, if you do not have a printer at home now, start your research . You need one . There’s printing almost everyday. I’m using HP 6700, wil not recom it. The ink used up very rapidly bcos of the large number of printing. The ink can cost more than the printer after 2-3 replacements. -

Thanks for the tips. I have a Fuji xerox b&w laser printer (home use type) but... if you print alot, the printer will start to make funny noise eg. it sounds like it is \"whining\".... HP is good but the consumables are expensive. Btw, do they need color or just b&w is enough?Don't recall my DD using the Art bag yet..

Back to book cost... Frankly, I got a shock when I realised that all in all we had to pay $500 for books, uniform, pe attire, etc... and yes this is not including laptop yet. Was :yikes: to realise sec 1 is not cheap. Wonder how those families who might not fall into needy category survive. So yes, this is our 1st child so maybe a shock for us. Met some of dd's pri mates' mums after school reporting. They are going to different schools and we were comparing \"notes\" and they were telling me that yes $500 for sec school is really not surprising...one even had to pay a compulsory fee for PSG and the fee is not exactly cheap. -

We did not use the art bag in sec 1 but I heard from my senior that we need to use in sec 2. My mum's friend's daughter had to pay much more for the books. -

It seems to be there and it is not an optional item. We only saw the art bag when we saw other folks carrying it.
I've to admit... I was Kiasu  I don't like to queue up so was determined to get things done asap. So immediately after the talk, I head straight to the book store and think we were one of the first few. After that, we head to PE attire while dh went to get car decal so we had everything completed within 30 mins...Assuming everything should be good in the pre-pack, I didn't check and left the school.
It was funny... dh saw someone with socks and he was like... did you buy socks???? I was like no.... By then, the queue was very long. So I asked for \"exceptional\" help to just purchase 5 pairs of socks. Just imagine our reactions when I realised there are already 4 in the box and dd ended up with 9 pair of socks.... my bad... -

Thank you so much for the helpful info! Will try doing that

Hi

What Cca should I join next year in sec 1?
I'm looking towards performing arts cca, I'm fine with sports and uniform group but I don't like too strenuous ones.
Anyone can give some advice?
