Yes.. But it is so sad that we can't even see our sons on the first day of Primary one.

Anyone knows whether can we go and see our son on the 1st day of school?

      Hi Lionel,
No, we're not allowed to go in, even on first day.

[quote=\"Lionel Ong\"]Yeah Good Idea! Could we just create a new thread for this? How do we go about doing this? :imcool:

BTW, my Primary 1D son came home at 3:20pm today. Poor thing. Heard from the Bus Driver the dismissal time was 2pm today??

3:20pm? That was horrible.. He must be super hungry when he gets home. :scared: I pick-up my son today. He was dismissed from the MRT gate at 1:45pm sharp.. I saw Class 1A and 1B were already dismissing at 1:35pm.. Not sure about 1D..

If you can do it, have own business, flexi time etc, why not?

It also depends on where you stay and the journey time.
Remind your child to have something to eat esp. during reccess

We stay pretty far from MSHS (Yishun) so we are resigned that our son will be first to get picked up and last to get sent home. Regarding food, we pack some food for him in a lunch box and he eats it during the ride home when hungry.

So far he hasn’t really given much feedback about his first day. Maybe us parents of 1D boys can share what information we know.

btw, my son is Nathan Wong (1D)

I've created a Facebook Group (secret group) under the name of \"Primary 1 MSHS Year 2014\". My boy is in class 1H. This group is opened to all classes. PM me your e-mail address if you wish to join and I can send you the invite. πŸ™‚

                        Our Little Smarties:
                        Dear Parents,

Can you let me know what is the official school start timing? Is it 7:25 or 7:20? If you're driving, what time do you usually reach school? What time does the morning assembly starts? Thanks! :scratchhead:

Hi , official starting time is 7.30am. But if u reached the Sch at 7.30am, u wil not make it. As the assembly hall is a distance walk away with many stairs to climb. Better to reach Sch earlier. Usually from Feb onwards, there are prog that starts at 7am to engage the boys. The bible story videos in the chapel to watch,Religious education for different level on different days, reading prog in the library by parent volunteers, silent reading in the hall and praise & worship hymns on Fridays in the hall. All these start at abt 6.55-7am.

Through my experience, targeting to reach the Sch at 7am is a 'mistake' .. Hahaha, because that's the most congested time, very difficult to filter in to Sch and even more difficult to get out of the Sch gate if u need to uturn at the traffic junction. ( remember , the only way to filter to the right lane from the exit of Sch gate is to wind down your window and use hand signal πŸ™‚ ).

...after 6mths of stress, I decided to heed the experienced mummies' advice, reach Sch before 6.43am it's a breeze. After 6.50am, the traffic builds up as the Sch buses start coming in after 6.45am.

As for pick up, I hav tried all different timings and all alternative pick up area. Haizzz, to b stress free, reach the Sch 35min after dismissal , the Q would hav shortened. If u want to b the 1st to pick your DS up, u wil hav to be at the gate at abt 20min before dismissal >> that means u wil be waiting in the car for a good 40min !! As the gate only opens 20min after dismissal ... For all the Sch buses to clear. If u reach Bartley Rd 5 min before dismissal, u run the risk of not being able to filter into the left lane or being shoo off by the LTA officers or traffic police .

Giv your DS a small pkt of biscuits to snack after Sch while waiting for u to pick him up.

Oh, last but not least, don't fill up the poor boy's water bottle from home. His Sch bag is heavy and there are many stairs to climb in MSHS. Teach him to fill up from the water coolers in Sch. There are many many water coolers on every level and corner.

                        Welcome to the family.
