[ from Edupoll forum as reference for parents]

      http://www.edupoll.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=694

Late 2009, Singapore Major General Ng Chee Khern and Brigadier General Ng Chee Meng whom are brothers, were in the news of all language papers - for the first time in Singapore, one sibling will replace another as head of service in Singapore Armed Forces

      http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_443397.html

MG Ng Chee Khern (Dual President & SAF Overseas Scholar) is indeed from Victoria School. ( google VS website and he is part of current or former Victoria Executive/Advisory Committee VEC/VAC - mostly old boys from Victoria School plus current VS & VJC principals ; other web information like Wikipedia also confirms)

In an earlier topic on new appointment holders in SAF / SPF, \"Netman\" from edupoll forum had stated that younger brother & new Air Force Chief BG Ng Chee Meng is also from Victoria School.
      http://www.edupoll.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=667

[ this is not easily verified based on other web sources ]. Could Netman or others help to feedback/verify on Ng Chee Meng's secondary sch? maybe a old schoolmate/friend from VS or other places/schools?

BG Ng Chee Meng is from Chinese High. Top student scoring 10 A1s (if I recalled correctly) in 1984. Went to Hwa Chong later.

Few years after Victoria School old boy Lt - General Ng Yat Chung step down from Singapore's top Military post of Chief of Defence Force (三军总长) (CDF, i.e. head of entire SAF and boss to Chief of Army, Chief of Air Force and Chief of Navy), current Chief of Army & another VS old boy, Major General Neo Kian Hong is taking up the appointment of Chief of Defence Force (wef 31 Mar 2010), and will head the over 300,000 men strong Singapore Armed Forces (including NS/Reserve forces).

From the Grapevine, it seems MG Neo eventually won the 'fight' over this Top Military post from Chief of Air Force, MG Ng Chee Khern [ also from Victoria School who is a dual President and SAF(Overseas) Scholar], who has since returned to Admin Service.

MG Neo is not another typical Scholar type General [although of course he is a Scholar and has SAFOS ]. He is Singapore's first Chief of Army and soon Singapore's first Chief of Defence Force to have passed (Army) Ranger Course & also qualified in Airborne and Diver (not to add his 'Guards' qualification) - a 'Special forces' trained & qualified general.

Being CDF means he is Singapore's ONLY (active) General that can hold the 3-Stars rank of Lieutenant General (Singapore's highest Military Rank that can only be possibly be held/attained by the 1 person - the Chief of Defence Force, CDF).

As BG (1-Star General) or Colonel, representing Singapore's SAF - General Neo also headed the Contact and Tracing System put into emergency action during the 2003 SARS national crisis.

From this bottom link, I wonder why he referred to Victoria School as \"Victoria Secondary School\". All old boys of VS knew that VS is never known as Victoria Secondary School. Just wonder if it's the same VS in S'pore he is refering to?

Think it's just a common mistake by most since VS is a secondary school, many thought that it's Victory Secondary. 😉
