        Hi Miaor,

The PE Journal is actually an ordinary school exercise book to be purchased from the school bookshop.

In addition to the PE Journal exercise book, pupils need to have another PE / Health Education book entitled \"An Active & Healthy Me\" which is available in school bookshop. 😄

          Hi West Spring,

just some feedback concerning the side gate in the morning. There doesnt seem to be any guard at the gate. The guards are standing at the drive way gate only and are unable to see who is going into the school side gate. Some parents are still walking their child to the canteen. Is this allowed? the reason i mention it is because I keep telling my child that I can’t walk into the school, yet other parents seem to be doing it.

          Thanks

              Dear Tenko,

There’re 2 security guards at the school gate each morning. For this morning, one guard was called away to attend to a matter for a while.

We’re glad to have had your co-operation on not accompanying your child into the school grounds so as to instil in him independence. Do continue to keep this practice up. Parents are NOT allowed to enter the school after sending their children off at the school gate. The security guards have been reminded to be more vigilant on this matter. 😄

                  Hi Starkids,

CNY celebrations will take place on Thursday, 30 Jan 2014. There’ll be no formal lessons on that day and celebrations will end by 10am in school. A Letter from the Principal will be issued next Wed on this matter as well as many other important school matters. Please do spend time reading this letter very carefully. 😄

Suggesting the morning assembly area can be improved with something easier to maintain or clean flooring so the kids shirt does not get so dusty everyday.

                      Hi Tare1919,

Thank you for your suggestions. Many of the things seen in other schools have taken shape over many years. Being a brand new school, time is needed to slowly enhance the school. At the same time, every school has different areas of focus as we provide a holistic education for our pupils.

As shared with all parents at the recent P1 Orientation cum Parents’ Briefings, enhancements will be taking place in the school to create more learning spaces for our West Springers in line with our play-based learning curriculum. We’re spending a lot of time now getting the P1s accustomed to primary school routine before embarking on many other activities that we have in store for them.

The school has been cleaned very regularly, including the parade square where the pupils assemble every morning. However, there’re are also external factors beyond the control of the school which must be taken note of – on-going construction work just opposite the school. 😄

                        Hi West Spring,

This morning I overheard a Father talking to the security at the side gate. He asked the guards why they are letting some helpers/parents walk into the school with their child. The guard told him that IT’S OKAY, THEY MIGHT BE VISITING OFFICE.

This surprises me. What’s the purpose of the guards? In other schools, anyone who wishes to visit the office, needs to sign in and is issued a visitor pass and is shown to the office.

Then I overheard the man ask the guard why they allow adults to come into the school and use the toilets. The guard told him WE CAN’T STOP THEM AS IT MAY BE URGENT.

This shocks me. Safety must come first. Perhaps there aren’t any other facilities nearby but surely this cannot be allowed. Anyone who wants to use the toilet, can come into the school. I can’t understand this. I am a Mother and I am sure any parent would feel the same. The school should not allow adults to come in and use the toilets. I feel very uncomfortable that my child would be using the same toilet as a complete stranger. Only recently in Singapore, a 14 year old school girl was molested on a public bus. The guards need to refuse adults from coming into the school to use the toilets. Any parent/ helper that needs to visit the school office should sign in and be issued with a pass. This is the normal procedure in other schools. I hope west spring can adopt the same system.

Also, contractors, vendors and staff should be issued with a badge or pass to identify themselves. Otherwise it seems that anyone can walk into the school.

Please look into all of this.

                        Many thanks
                        from
