Babyfeet,
I asked the school administrator if P1 will be in the morning session or afternoon at the temporary premise. She told me MOE has not replied them yet. So far, from what I understand only P1 is in the afternoon session. It would be great if MOE allows the school to go morning session from P1-6. -
oh yes! i really hope that it can be in the morning session. it will be less disruptive for our family. and i can’t imagine my daughter doing homework at 8 or 9pm coz there will be no one guiding her in the day as she is with her grandma! keeping my fingers crossed!
thanks for your reply! -
Do any of your P1 gals take catered food?
My elder gal took the catered food for 3 terms when she was in P1. I did not continue with the catering in term 4 as she said she was getting sick of eating the same kinda food for almost 9 months..
Now my younger gal in P1, totally skipped the catered food after the first week. She said she felt like vomiting when she tasted the food. Was it that bad???
She hates to eat porridge, fishball noodle or fried noodle and even bolognese pasta. She only took those stuff like choco muffin, mushroom soup and waffles etc.
I have been packing sandwiches, pancakes, cakes, bread/bun and cereal for her..gonna stop the catering services next term. -
Babyfeet,
I really really hope MOE allows P1 to be in the morning session, then my child can get her work done in the afternoon and have the evening free. I still remember those 2 years when my boy was in the afternoon session (P1/2). Time was so tight…homework at night and revision in the morn and rush to have lunch as well. -

My dd said that initially (last year when she was P1) the catered food was quite good, then gradually, it became worse. But I was too busy to pack food for her so I told her to tolerate it. The good thing about the catered food is that they have fruits and sometimes, my gal will go for second helpings when there's extras.
However, this year, she's very happy with the canteen food as she's faced with a wonderful choice of food. They are quite reasonable too.
Magic Mushroom,
The range of food at the canteen is quite wide. Late last year, my gal was given a list of the food items and their prices from the various stalls. The list was from the Math dept. It was great as my dd could decide which stall to go to and order the dish and know how much money she needed or the change to be returned before the first day of school. After that, it was easier as the girls compared the food they had and became more adventurous. -

My P2 gal is glad that she no longer has to eat catered food. However, she told me the queue in the canteen is quite long..esp those popular stalls..ended up she always goes for the ones that have shorter queues.

It is a pity that the sch canteen does not operate for the PM session.. -
Hi Guppy,
What is this catered food for P1 you mentioned ? Is it meant for recess ?
My daughter is rather fussy with food, but I’m curious about this catered food you mentioned. If possible, I would like to take a look myself.
Oh yes, does your daughter wear a pair of shorts under her pinafore everyday ? I remember doing that (even on days when there was no PE) because my classmates were very naughty and love to lift up other girls’ pinafores. -

Cos the canteen does not operate in the afternoon so those P1 kids will either signed up for the catering services or bring their own food. The teacher will send the menu before the end of the sch term and see if you are keen to sign up for next term. I noted that most of time, the caterer does not stick to the daily menu..and so I have to prepare some snacks for backup. I do think the caterer provides variety of selection - from western food like pasta to oriental food like fishball soup. Friday menu is my gals' fav cos they usu will have muffin, cakes, waffles stuff. Each meal include fruits (usu apple, honeydew, watermelon) and each set cos $1.30.Hi Guppy,

I insisted my gals to wear shorts under the pinafore..as they do sit on the floor sometimes. And sometimes, gals can get rowdy when they play, it will be unsightly to expose their panties to others.
The sch PE shorts can quite hot at times..so I bought those cotton boxer shorts for my gals. -

I agree..PM session is very tiring for the kids too...my gals said sometimes they feel drowsy in the afternoon.Babyfeet,

Now my P2 gal is in the AM session...I have more time to go through her sch work with her.. -
Bebe,
So this catered food is just for P1 because they are in the afternoon session. Do we parents pay at the start of each term ? Do the gals get the food before recess or still have to queue ?
My daughter must have her afternoon sleep or she will be very grouchy. I really hope MOE allows P1 to go morning session since it’s the ONLY level in the afternoon session now. I was surprised when my friend told me her daughter was in morning session since P2.
