Crescent Girls' School

MMM:
Have to tell DH to be prepared to spend on Friday
I am looking forward to go to the school this friday. Think this time must bring the cheque bookkiasukaypoh:
A senior parent told me that they will declare general performance in assembly. My DD also said the result takers & families were looking happy as far she saw. I think they will put the achievements of top rankers only after few days. We can check with Principal on Friday.
My DD is also quite happy till date. So far so good.
:xedfingers:
My dd told us ytd that she enjoys her HCL and comm arts lessons. Which I thought was pretty positive. She is also looking forward to start her cca this week. Last week... she even have \"TGIF\" lunch with some of her classmates/ buddies after school. We told her it's fine but she just has to manage within her weekly allowance (training her on financial management). Yes, definitely enjoying school despite the longer journey and hours. That don't seem to bother her at all.
. Any idea what time we have to go to school?
My DD said she is enjoying all subjects, except MT. I was really hoping that she will be more open towards MT in Secondary. Don't know how to get her to like it. I don't want to wait till last like I did in Primary but at the same time I don't want to nag right in the beginning :scratchhead:
Good our DDs are having a good time, in school as well as with friends. Luckily, there are very few distractions in Crescent vicinity. Orchard or Queensway is the nearest hangout. I stay in the neighborhood but I rarely see CGS girls loitering around our area so I am assured they must be kept busy in general. -

[quote=\"Verysuperkiasu\"]We tried walking from redhill mrt to CGS, very far. If want to take bus, must walk almost half the distance to the bus stop. Then might as well walk all the way to school. So I find it quite inaccessible, as there are many condos there so can't cut thru unlike HDB voiddecks.
There is another Gate(for parents who drive their kids) which is opens on Road behind the school. That gate can be used by walk-in kids as well. Route to the gate is
-take a walkway( in between Metro Condo & SKY condo) from Red-hill MRT turning to left as you exit station.
- Take overhead bridge to cross over the Alexzandra road.
-walk after till Tanglin view condo ends towards south
- turn left to lead to road/gate.
I am not sure which route you tried... the main one, crossing traffic lights at 4 cross road is definitely longer -

No idea on the timing yet. Think we have to wait for the notifications from our dds. dd sounded very surprised to learn about this event as she didn't hear anything from her FT. I told her it was mentioned during the parents' seminar but unsure if it is finalised though. I think it's obvious that I am finding reasons to go to the school rightHave to tell DH to be prepared to spend on Friday

This is despite that we dropped her off at school every morning...
Yes, so far we don't see the girls loitering around. When I see them in orchard, they are usually with parents. Even without, they are fairly well behaved. I took 111 with my dd last thursday after cca open house. The bus was crowded and some girls even offered their seats to a senior citizen who got on the bus. So yes, really happy with what we see so far and I do hope my dd will also become a true cresentian in terms of character one day. -
Very Happy to read this post . Positive things about Cresentians
My DD told that Parent seminar has been postponed to 28 th Feb.
I too visited few times to the school. I find girls are really well behaved,
carry themselves well . This is what we expect as a parent. :goodpost: -
I was wondering about the m-learning & PC sale and my DD has no idea. But if it is postponed to next month then they will get the devices only in end March or April.
MMM,
I am desperately trying to let go but can't. I have no excuse to drop her as we live so near. So I am trying to find excuses to visit school as much as possible
.
Techmummy,
I know a few old girls plus a whole lot of Crescent girls from my neighborhood. Their conduct as opposed to so many other nearby school children was one reason it became my DD's dream school. Of course, it also depends on individuals, but as a cohort I can go out on a limb and say that they are the most well behaved kids in my surrounding blocks. And once a school has a certain reputation, the newcomers strive to live up to it. Monkey see, monkey do works to our benefit

BTW, did you all manage to get any news on the O levels results? I heard something like 3 scored 10 A1s. At least 5 with 8 or 9 A1s. For the no. above 6A1s, dd said she can't possibly count as there were pages & pages of names.... She didn't say anything on the average L1R5. That's all that I managed to \"squeeze\" out of her... But I don't know how accurate. Well... she probably don't realise that O's is just like another PSLE but with more subjects. So she wasn't really interested in the school performance unlike the anxious ksps. -

Yes true. Monkey see, monkey do.
Initially I wondered how fast dd will make friends as she is not the naturally sociable type. But I was amazed that she knows all her classmates by now and she has recess pals, different transport route pals (eg. to go home by redhill, plaza or bus 132). Encouraging her to open up and make friends in her cca too. She is enjoying her friends and it appear that bonds are built fairly quickly. Must say I am kind of amazed how they did it. Really thankful for that.
Err... I am also kind of thankful that she is in a all girls school. No BGR issues/ distractions to worry about.
Observed homework also starts to build up now. -

My DD said more than 50% got 6A1s and above (no doubt pages & pages). Except for Bio & Music, the school is way above national average. -

Yes, the speed at which the girls have bonded with each other is amazing. My DD met one of her primary school classmate yesterday who has gone to a top girls' IP school and the friend said that they are quite fragmented in school till now and feels quite lonely. My DD is quite glad that she chose Crescent.kiasukaypoh:
