Agree. Mummylow, maybe you can ask your friend to tell her daughter this and remind her that it's not unkindness (except for the nasty or inconsiderate few) but probably shyness and not knowing how to make the first step. And maybe give her some tips about taking that first step herself? Also, help her value her differences - my daughter is even more 'different' because of her background, accent, outlook etc, and we have tried to help her value her uniqueness. We tell her that it's not necessary to be like everyone else as long as she gets along with others. Variety is a good thing.

Hi slmkhoo, You are so right about not being afraid to look or be different from others. There’s no big deal being different. It only goes to show one’s uniqueness and one ought to be proud of it. I’ll talk to my friend’s daughter about what you girls have said. I’m sure she’ll be very encouraged and look forward to school days again. Those GEP from RGPS are DSA students using GEP. According to MOE, these GEPers are in the programme for 5 yrs since P4 till Sec 2. Sec 3 onwards all will be dispersed according to subject combinations.

Face the reality lah, not only students who are in gang A or gang B. Even in office, we also have gang here, gang there, lunch kakis, gossipers etc. She has to suit the environment and not the environment suits her.

Anyway, the girls are at an awkward age? They have to slowly grapple with the fact that life a not a bed of roses… Have heard similar cases many years back…

Mainstreamers 269 and below together with DSA mainstreamers are in 101-108

GEPers (any aggregate 210 above), mainstreamers 270 above are in 109-113

these are some observations from the floor. There could be some exception here and there.

DD was in mainstream class in yr1 & 2. There're girls from DSA music and sports (not meeting the cut off) but eventually they did well. They got good GPAs and leadership roles.

This year, DD faces similar issue too. Because majority of the girls in her class are from GEP class and they are kind of familiar with each other already. Her observation is that many girls from GEP are more of the introvert type, it takes a bit of time to warm up.

Well there're other opportunities to meet friends…... Friends from CCAs and elective programs last for 4 yrs.

Hey um I just wanna assure some mums of non GEP friends and share some of my own thoughts. I'm a GEPer but I'm not from RGPS or NYPS. There are really a huge bunch of people from these two schools in my class. Ofc there are also some really smart and nice non GEP people I just want to assure you that not only ur daughters face that problem but sometimes I do to. Sometimes it's just like I go into class and all the NYPS and RGPS people are talking to each other and I'm just like what's going on...?

But really I've made friends with some really awesome people from RGPS and NYPS and they really aren't stuck up or anything. I don't know anything about ur daughter's class but looking at my class, I think they're mostly really nice (yay!) Anyway ur daughter just has to find someone with a personality that suits her! Wish her best of luck!!

We need some advice. Both RSP enrichment activities and Math Olympiad training class fall on same day, RSP only has 6 activities in a calendar year. It is ok to miss 6 Math Olympiad lessons? Or should give up one?

We know of girls with tscores 254 and 267 in class 113. So, your classification may not be right?

If I’m not wrong, girls doing SAP & MEP r placed in 113, so it has both GEP & Mainstream girls.
