At the briefing was there any mention of school upgrading/moving to holding area?
-
Did anyone ask about the school temporary relocation?
-
Candy Candy:
I think it's all depend on the child ability to cope with the study. That is why there are banding in all primary schools (be it the top 2 classes, HMT or GEP). Those with higher learning ability will be grouped and drilled for better results. The big population will still follow the mainstream.
Looking for a school that will provide a great academic program while developing a caring person in a friendly environment. Since my girl will spend great amount of time at school, would be important to be involved in activities that will connect parents, teachers, school. -

Did anyone ask about the school temporary relocation?
The principal said they were still having discussions and so no specific details yet. She told that the parents would be informed atleast a year before the move. -

Thanks for your updates. -
She did also ask the parents to refrain from calling her office as no decision has been made yet as to where the holding location would be. Given the size of the school population, it is very hard for MOE to accommodate their specs, but they have nonetheless put in a wish list.
Parents will also be approached to co-pay for certain activities eg swimming and donation cards will be issued in due course to help raise funds for such programs and to purchase ceiling fans for the hall. -

hi,
Any parents who can advise if the girls will be required to wear traditional costumes for Chinese New Year celebration in school ?
According to the school calendar, there seems to be CNY celebration next Friday (12 Jan), based on past year practice any change in school hours and if the girls will wear traditional costumes ?
Thanks !

Last year, there was a CNY celebration in the am, together with some racial harmony essence (giant jigsaw puzzle) but the kids went in their school uniform.

This year, under the new P who is supportive of the \"traditional costume\" slant, there would be some communication to the parents on it in due course! Am sure the kids would enjoy this better!

Given the size of the classes, it's really a delicate balance between academic focus at the \"speed\" of the mainstream...vs a more caring, nuturing environment.

You've got it right Candy Candy....being involved in PV activities and other school activities would ease you little one into the school and give her greater pride in being a part of RGPS.
I've just gone through the presentation slides of the P1 parent meeting from last week. The P has her heart in the right place, and she'd bring the teachers and school support with her. We as parents, need to also step up on our side of the bargain :celebrate: ...it's not about teaching, it's about educating our young ones (ain't that sound like an MOE ad
