Looking for car-pooling from Boon Lay MRT to Henry Park Primary School and back daily. Poor son throws up everytime he comes back from school taking school bus, so exploring the option of doing away with taking school bus altogether.

I was surfing HPPS website and found an astonishing trend in the PSLE results. I copied it and did some https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkDXJtO0LwKEdFdOb3UtcHZhdGN2WTh5a2pMZ2hqY2c&usp=sharing.


Basically for the past 2 years, in year 2013, the number of A & A* for the 3 most important subjects has fallen by as much as 15% as compared to 2011.

% difference of number of A & A* for HPPS in year 2013 compared to 2011
English: -9.49%
Maths: -8.03%
Science: -15.76%

This is the % difference for Singapore for that same period.
English: 0.23%
Maths: 4.14%
Science: -3.45%

I am very concerned how the school is going to reverse the declining trend and am very tempted to drop an email to our principal.

I am sure the school will have seen the negative performance and will be doing something to arrest the slide in result.


Writing to the principal may not help, as the principal may decide not to release the PSLE information to website in future, and that may ease everyone's job. In that way, we will have no visibility to the result trend at all.

A drop in performance may be due to a few factors, which are not known. Probably it is due to the school moving to a holding site and affected the staff and students learning environment. It may also be that the Science paper is easier for 2013, and students are not allowed to have more mistakes than the past due to higher scoring obtained by that cohort, and as a result, after going through the bell curve, the net result is moderated. There are many more reasons.

As a parent, I look at a student's overall performance, that includes character upbringing, the RICE values, confidence of a student and then result. We have to believe in the staff running the school. We have to believe in our children's ability. The percentage and figures shown in the past years PSLE should not affect a child's learning ability and ability to score with flying colours in the coming years!

The school does provide after school care.


The bus fees $100/- two ways from Bt Batok to HPPS. CCA separate charges at $6 or more per trip.

My son might be in P1 next year in Henry Park. Does anyone know of any transport options between Seletar Hills / Sengkang area to the school? The school bus operator currently doesn’t come to my area. So I’m wondering if there’s any private bus operators whom anyone might know of? Or car pool?

I understand that P1 is currently in the afternoon session. Any idea if it will likewise be so for next year’s intake?
