Where to donate children cloths and assessment books?

I have a lot of children cloths, toys and assessment books for P1 including exam paper to give away. Can anyone advise where to donate to the needy in Singapore but not salvation army? :thankyou:

Hi, thanks for the lead. Was also thinking of where to donate used but rather new stuff, other than salvation army.

I was uncomfortable at the fact that i was told to leave my items at a collection point at the Salvation Army (the one near Potong Pasir). Really don’t know what happens to the items in the end. So recently my dh brought my son to an orphanage in Kovan area to donate his books and toys. My dh shared that the kids were so happy and went "waaaaaaaaah" when they peeked inside the bags. My son also had a glimpse in a concrete manner, as to how fortunate he is/has been all this while. I have decided not to sell my kids’ items anymore online. Donating is more fulfilling.


Would appreciate if some can advise me where to donate my boy’s chinese story books. The orphanage i mentioned is a non-chinese organization.

So for the orphanage that you mentioned ,we can actually just walk in with our items? And the kids there actually get the toys on the spot?

We experienced the same with the Salvation Army along Bt Timah.


Realized later that what were left at the pick up point can be picked up by other ppl who dropped their other stuff as well. Hence, we were unsure if any of the items do go to the needy… and which needy organizations benefit.

We now either donate directly to orphanages, churches & mosques. Occasionally we keep for our neighbourhood estate’s collection for the needy.

Seems like ab is talking about the one I know of. This one that i know of, you can walk in. The first time my son went there, he got a shock by the response from the children. I thought it must have hit him hard enough to wake his conscience that he has been very fortunate.

I had called the organization to ask if i could donate the items. I informed them that there were pre-loved and new items. The gentleman sounded very happy. He said we could come in anytime they were open. But it was some months after that that i finally was able to put aside the items and my dh went with my son. So in a way, it was walk in.

From what my dh narrated to me. He was told to leave the items in the reception or entrance. But the children were there and they gathered around the bags to peek at the items.
