It depends also on what her current salary is.

One of my friends gave $20 increase after the first 2 years… Her maid is the diligent and well behaved type… What’s the normal increment?

          Thanks for the replies.

Mine is getting $500 with every Sunday off.

I am just surprised by the 20% she asked for, my prefer range is 10-15%. I will have a chat with her and see if we can agree on a sum both are happy with.

Most people I know usually give $50 more.

            12mum:
Can anyone share how much increment do you give to your maid if you renew the contract with her.?

Is it 10%, 20% or more?

            Mine is asking for 20%.

Ours is ok relationship as long as she do her work (we close one eye) and not give us problems.

She prefers to stay with us. So the increment part, I am unsure how much to give her cos I was thinking more of 10-15%.
            How is her work performance?

I have the same query- Did not read all the posts! But My Mynmaar Maid is due to finish contract in July. I want to renew her contract. Salary is $400 with one day off a month. couple of issues:

                1. She wants 1 month home leave! I cannot give her 1 month. I am planning to send her in June as for 10 days in June we are also planning a holiday. our contract sayd 15 days.
                2. she wants two days off a month. I am ok with that. But how do I adjust salary. What increment? We have not discussed yet. She wants $500. I told her I need to discuss with my husband.
                3. Anyone has had any recent problem of mynmar maid returning to singapore? should i renew her permit through agency or can i do myself. This is my first maid so I am not so sure.

My maid is good with kids and she can handle my parents-in-law also with great patience so I want to badly keep her for another year!

If I can sort out her home leave request, I'll offer her $500 with 2 off days if I'm you. After all, that's the market rate even for fresh maids, so I'd rather save the trouble and just offer this to her. Renewal of wp should be rather easy using WP online?

After Indon authorities announced an increase in Indon maid's minimum salary to $450 an ex colleague of mine offered her maid a salary of $420 for renewal of her contract. (Salary was 350 or 370 before renewal). The maid said ok.
Probably cos her work was comparatively light: living in a flat with 2 elderly but able-bodied women. No babies, not pets, no car to wash etc.

Hi, will like to see if anyone has similar experience:

My maid's work permit expiring on 31 Mar. But my new maid coming in only in 3rd week of Mar. Meanwhile, we gave 2 days off to my current maid in Feb to go for interviews and she wanted me to sign the consent form for transfer today as MOM requires 30 days before expiry for change of employer and MOM advise that the transfer will take place within a week! 😢 We didn't expect this timeline or we would have looked for a new maid earlier or may not even agree to let her transfer in the first place...

Anyone has experience negotiating with current maid's new employer ad agency on having her new permit applied only a week before my new maid comes?

Wow $500???? Is she worth that amount? On top of that, you still have to feed her, pay maid levy etc? It easily comes up to more than $1k.
