Yes, my girl brought back the notification letter last evening too.
The P has sent the letter around...for those who've not received it, it'd be traditional ethnic costume but no headgear for Friday. Kids are to wear their school shoes to school as well. Full day, not half day this year round!
For me it's better that they have normal school hours, otherwise can't imagine my girl having to get on the bus at 5.40am (which is the time her school bus comes to pick up for morning session)
Now have to \"source\" for her traditional costume, don't really fancy those very CNY look as then can only wear during this festive period....*waste money*

mwchua:
Wear on Friday, wash immediately after reaching home...then can wear again on second or third day of CNY mah

Must remember to buy 1 size bigger so that can wear next year
where *waste money*??!?!?

Anyone has any idea where to get past years RGPS Higher Chinese Paper? Those sold in the bookshops or available in the internet are Normal Chinese Paper.

I can't think of anywhere these are available except if the teacher is kind enough to circulate what has been previously set for HCL.
The internet and bookshop \"editions\" only include HCL from P5 onwards although \"J\" (the printer through which most of us get our supply) did mention that he would try and get these \"going forward\"

That's not true. My older girl who's already in Sec 1 this year wore ethnic costumes to school to celebrate CNY in her P1 and P2. I think it's just funny seeing the P5 and P6s wearing them so the practice is only applicable to lower primary levels. Nothing to do with the Principal.
This year, under the new P who is supportive of the \"traditional costume\" slant, there would be some communication to the parents on it in due course! Am sure the kids would enjoy this better!

I guess this year's CNY eve is not on a weekday so no half-dayon the eve's eve. The letter did not state its compulsory to wear ethnic costumes it states.. they are encouraged to wear.... my daughter and her classmates have not been wearing for the past 3 yrs and most have no intention to wear this Friday.. I think most of the p1s and p2s would not mind wearing ethnic costumes though, some of the older ones dont really feel comfortable in it.
If my dd refuses, Im not\" encouraging\" her and Im certainly not going to go outof my way to shop especially with such short notice given..
No time !! endless homework and tests.

Can any P3 parents here share how the P2 classes were splitted and form P3 classes for this year? I read in RGPS website that they have moved the bending from P3 to P4. Thanks.

DD came home with a Participation Form for Stage Performance.
Any parents here know what this is about? What performance are they expected to put up? Any parental involvement required? -

Hi Funz,DD came home with a Participation Form for Stage Performance.

It's for the Wednesday Character Development Program (CDP) on stage. It is a Parent-volunteer (PV) run programme and my gal looks forward to it!
Using sketches, dance and slides, the parents impart characters (e.g., Attentiveness) and show the children different cultures through songs, dance, costumes, craft work.
Sometimes, the kids get to go on stage either to act, or to dance...so this is like a \"consent form\" of sort. The PV will call you up sometime either the previous week or the Monday to tell you that your girl is selected; and probably give you a to-do list (my girl got to act so she was given the script ahead of time, so I just rehearsed with her
)

Hi Andaiz,
Thanks for the explanation. I was actually wondering what level of parental involvement is required.
In any case, since DD was all excited about participating, I signed the form and put it into her bag. But this morning, she asked me why I signed the form, she doesn't want to participate. :stupid:
Anyway, typical of DD. She loves performing but will always have jitters. So told her I leave it up to her. If she wants to take part, just hand in the form. If not, then don't hand in the form.
