      MMM:

Kids in general - $6 as we've 3 kids. Most exchange are $4 but they have 2 kids so cannot let ppl lugi.

Special cases - $10 (eg. unmarried grown up cousin)

Immediate nieces/ nephews - $20 (we all use the same rate for years) The funny thing is the most of them have 2 kids but we've 3 and youngest sil has 1. But it's still a flat rate per child.

      Grandparents - $100 e...
I only prepared 2 types of angpow this year. S$10 & S$20. S$10 for those grownup cousins/nieces/nephews (bc they don't really need and would be paiseh to receive too, right?).

But the rest, we had to increase our angbao value to S$20 bc from last year's experience, so many gave our kids S$10 each. And we have 4 kids! So shy to make them \"lugi\", and most of them only have 2 kids. Last year recession - i thot angbao value go down, but we were mistaken. After day 1 of cny, I so shy, i started repacking all my angbaos.

          talking abt ang pows issues,

it’ll be nice if my cousins are as "considerate" as u guys here…
u see…they never know what is "paiseh"
our family’s side, me , brother and sister, all of us only have 1 child
but my cousins’ side all of them have 3 to 4 kids
and they are giving our kids $4 each, (all these yrs)
for the first yr, i was dumbed to enclose $10
even by giving $4 ang pows, i also "lugi" …
(fyi, one of my cousin’s hub is earning at least $20,000 per mth, and yet they they’re not paiseh to do such thing)…

Next time put $2, that’s the minimum you can put. At $2 each, you still win them with their 3/4 kids.

No choice, that's the least you can put.

Unless you dare to put empty red packet (= $0). 😄
