Yes, you need to. The levy applies to Citizen and PR.

PRs still hold their foreign passport right ? Can they just show their passport and get through ?

Anyway I think what is most important is how much the casino is willing to let people win at the slot machines šŸ˜‰

Yes, I agree with this observations. I am no big gambler. I only know how to play slot machine. In Genting, they have those 1 or 2 cents machine and if you buy all lines, you increase your chance for a surprise. Eg. free 15 plays,etc... so such machines are fun to play.

We view going to casino as an entertainment. Eg. Our willingness to lose is eg. $200, after this is lost, we will just move on and take it as a entertainment fee.

It's funny. When we were at RWS yesterday, we saw a Sporean ah pek. Though old but from his dressing, we assume that he must be some rich old man. Decked out in white shirt, pants and shirt and a bright pink vest. He was assisted by another old man who appears to be his assistant type. They were queuing up to pay for the levy to enter the casino.

I've not come to a point where I think I will pay to enter the casino but I will definitely go back to RWS for universal studio and the hotel stay.

Personally I feel that the annual levy of 2K is too little. Many rich ppl can afford it. Look at all the big and high end cars feature in the newspaper today.

I am not sure if there is a online system to check the status when people queue to enter the casino. So people can't get away with their foreign passport.

Also, looking at the article that they managed to arrest 2 foreigners with fake passport???? It appeared to be immigration controls. :?

Yes I think $2k is not excessive for those potential gamblers. Take it as monthly cost of $167. It's fairly affordable.

That is the reason why sg gov only discouraging those not so rich people from going in by implementing this $200/entry and $2,000/year. They want the $$ from the rich not from the poor. If the rich lose some $$ they are still ok. But if the poor lose $$, then they will still go back to the gov for $$ again.

Someone was telling me that the casino has a list of \"blacklisted\" names. These are people who are receiving handouts from govt and they are not allowed to enter the casino even if they can pay $200.

Yes you are right the government should have given them access to check the status from the passport numbers.
