hi, my 2 kids are currently attending mindchamps reading and writing programme. i realise that mindchamps reading and writing is not listed as 1 of the enrichment programme. we should include in the list.

my elder kid is into the 3rd year of this programme and i have seen great improvements in him in terms of word recognition, reading confidently and not afraid of speaking in public, esp when pple asked questions. so the following year i enrolled my 2nd kid into the programme too.

i also send the kids to pcf kindergarten and the teachers have made similar good comments about their language abilities and confidence as compared to the rest of the children in the pcf class.

I’ve tried ICR for awhile, but did not see any improvement, felt so wasted, money down the drain, so stopped for a period of time 😞

Felt that dd is ready to start again and was not sure which program would be suitable for her, but heard of a freelance tutor who specializes in phonics and decided to try her out as her rates were pretty reasonable and the best part…she comes right up to my doorstep! Hehe. For a reasonable rate and 1-to-1 service, I thought, why not? I’m paid more for ICR anyway.

Honestly, I was initially skeptical about the effectiveness of the program as well. I mean at $50/1.5hr session for 1-to-1 home class, what can I expect right? (I do know of others who charge up to $150 per session D:) But I was surprised when I met the teacher for the first time, she was young and bubbly and was very enthusiastic in her teaching, dd enjoys her sessions very much and she is also creative in her teaching methods. She makes use of lots of games and interactive tools instead of solely paper and pencil which can sometimes get very boring for young children.

Have seen so much improvement as compared to ICR, better service and better price haha… So mummies, expensive does not mean it is always good…

Anyway, good things must share! So pleased with dd’s progress and hope to help you too! Pm me for her contact details if interested! She also offers creative writing sessions at a slightly cheaper rate, but dd is still too young for that, will try it out in the future when she is old enough hehe…

I hv to say that the mindchamps reading program is the most advanced program I’ve seen so far. Which centre invests so much into producing eBooks for reading and phonics? These eBooks are also available in mindchamps preschool where my son is. He says it’s really fun to use. Besides reading, can record own voice, practise writing and sing along with the catchy tunes.

I would say it will have to depends on each child learning ability as well as the teacher’s teaching.

                        Both my kids attended ICR.
My girl started at age 3 while my boy started at age 4.
From a zero reader to now a fluent reader, this is how ICR transform him and I am thankful!

However, it does not benefit my girl. She did not learn much till today and still struggling with letter sound(blending) and reading. I have thus pull her out from ICR and switch to Mindstretcher phonics.
