Depends on the performance of the cohort before.jtoh:
Firefly, you didn't realize that every April 1 has been a school holiday?
I didn't know.. Whenever DS says \"no need to go school tomorrow\", I just say \"ok\".. Didn't check the date.. Or maybe I did, but thot it was just coincidental..
So, it's official ? Raffles students can't play pranks on their teachers & friends on April Fools' Day ??
-
firefly38:
Oh.. Didn't realize that the celebration day for excellent A Levels results is always set on 1st April..jtoh:
DS is disappointed that today is a holiday. The class had prepared some pranks for the teachers.
Is it a norm that April Fools' Day is a holiday in RI? I can imagine that it is an unproductive school day there.
Yes, April 1 is usually designated a school holiday for the Raffles family of schools (RGS, RI, RJC) to recognize and celebrate the hard work put in by the staff and students as well as to celebrate the excellent A level results.
Maybe the Principal & teachers know what the boys (& girls) are up to on April Fools' Day.. So, they prefer to keep the kids at home, to keep themselves \"safe\"..
DS1 came home about 10+, after breakfast with his friends.. He is in Boarding this term..

Wow, RI knows for sure that they will always perform very well in A Levels, so can designate Apr 1 as a school holiday every year?

No they don't. So happens they performed well in the past years and that's why they celebrate it with a school holiday. It's not a given that every April 1 is a designated school holiday. The students wait in anticipation for the schools to announce it every year. And every year some of their seniors will say, don't wait too hard bec we didn't do well enough for you to have a holiday.

Oh.. I thot every House would put up a play.. And there would be Award Presentations, like Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Play, Best Script, Best Cast, Best Set etc..
Firefly, my DS did not performing that night. He told my there was nobody playing from his house when he came back home last Saturday night...snowlotus:
Snowlotus.. Your DS performing tonight ? Which House is he representing ?
Last year, Bayley and Moor were big winners..
That was how DramaFest was last year..
Was last Sat's organized by Raffles Players ?
Firefly, you are so lucky that your DS shares a lot of info with you... my DS normally just tell me on the day that there is certain activity and he needs to go to school... very difficult to dig info out from him...sigh

I read in another thread that some schools require their students to sit for Chinese in Sec 3 before they are allowed to sit for O level Higher Chinese in Sec 4. How about RI? Are the students required to sit for Chinese in sec 3?
Btw, the list of tests for Term 2 ends in week 6. Does it mean MYCT start in week 7? -
