My daughter is rather week in her English especially in composition/creative writing. Does anyone has any recommendation on any enrichment classes to help in this area. Anyone heard of mindstretcher?

Mindstretcher seems to be popular with science and maths, more with science. Well I see most of my dds school parents sending them there, but not english.

Hi Moonee, do you have any recommendation and a reputable or reliable school for creative writing? Allan Morris?

Maybe you can consider Learning cycle (ex. literacy circle)? I sent my kids for their creative writing holiday camp. They have a structured way to teach the kids on writing. But I am not too sure if they have this on a regular basis.

Hi, Im havng the same problem as you. My dd is in p4 and not too good in compo/compre too. Problem is she does not read very much neither does she do any extra assessment sheets aside frm her homework. Shes been with Tony Buzan for english creative writing; not too bad but I m withdrawing her soon cos the timing dont fit. I dont know yr girls age but sounds like p2 or p3. Ive been looking at Planet Astar, M.Allen and Learning point. Evey child differs, mine needs two different type of enrichment classes. One that motivate her to read like M.Allen or British Council and another that teaches the local school syllabus(more result based and exam orientated) centres like Krtc and Mindstretchers would be suitable. Im at a lost cos different centres cater to different needs of the child.
I tried signing my dd into learning point last yr but after doing their entry test, I was told that her compo does not flow and would be hard for her to keep up with their ongoing class, her cloze passages and compre was ok.
I was told to let her try for their new term in september09.
Iwas considering M.A. too but I need to incorporate both requirements into one centre. So yesterday I decided to sign her into Learning Lab. This is the centre I have been avoiding.... have lots of friends there with positive comments like they ar good.... Now i want to find out how \"result orientated \" they are and what they can do for my dd...I never really believed in big names but will give it a shot. šŸ˜Ž

MMM- have also taken note of yr recomedation ... will be checking on it too. Tks for sharing
