Push ups and lots of butterfly stroke. Works marvellously.

Anyone has any feedback on Elite Swim Club ? This is the one my current coach is recommending for my dd.

Hi workingmom, i'm also considering letting dd try competitive training. Can share how the evaluation for your dd went and do you know the criteria for selection? Has she started training and does she enjoy it? Appreciate any sharing. Thanks.
Also, does anyone have a club to recommend in the East? TIA -

The Chinese Swimming Club and the Singapore Swimming Club has got quite good swimming coaches and facilities. They also produced some very good swimmers too. Only set back is that you have to buy membership. CSC is cheaper than SSC. and there's subscriptions to be paid too!Hi workingmom, i'm also considering letting dd try competitive training. Hi 3kiddos
The evaluation didn’t go so well - dd was quite scared of the unfamiliar surroundings - but my hubby thought the Elite lady coach was quite good. Apparently for many kids, the eldest kid can find it hard to get used to the training as it is all new to them - their younger siblings find it a lot easier when they follow their older sister/brother.
Also, as Elite is at Keppel - bit far for us - transport will be an issue as my dd is still very young. I understand that they also train at Simei so you may want to check and consider them then.
My hubby then tried Swimfast - they are a lot closer to us and they start later so easier to send and pick up as we both work. My dd has been swimming there for 3-4 weeks now. Initially I think the training was very tough on her as she was not used to the pace and amt of laps covered. Now, it is better but she has a lot to catch up on. Basically they have a beginners group for competitors and it suits her as the grp is aged from as young as 5-6 all the way to P3/4s. We started her 3 times a wk and hope to increase it to 4 eventually - many kids there swim at least 5 times a wk !
One problem I noticed, the lanes are quite crowded ! I don’t know if it is the same everywhere else. It is a bit worrying for the younger kids when they get bumped by paddles n flippers !
How old is your dd ? No harm trying out the training but be prepared for the time committment required. It is quite tiring having to balance school work and training … and my dd is only in P2 ! -
hi workingmum
Thanks for sharing. I also think that my dd won’t perform in unfamiliar surroundings. She’s only in P1. So far she hasnt had any chance to compete (no school team / school meet in her pri sch) so i’m not sure if she’ll like it. From her progress in once a week training so far, we just think she has potential, she does enjoy the sport and we do encourage our kids to take up a competitive sport each for the exposure, discipline and more.
I am prepared for the time commitment as my P3 boy also trains (not swimming) 3-4 times a week since P2 for his sport. Swimming, however, can be quite monotonous so I’m not sure if she’s too young to ‘enjoy’ and commit or if I should wait a year or two more. -

Thanks for your suggestion. Am not keen to join CSC or SSC at the moment as we're not sure if dd will take to competitive training. And we don't have any need for club membership.
