Can anyone share the experience with SOTA DSA?
I read about the need to submit 2 contrasting pieces of music. Will let ds try under a band instrument. Can we just do recording in home environment and submit? -

Hi,Shoe:
I've heard mixed feedback on SOTA, any existing parents with kids in SOTA to share their experiences?
Hi Shoe,
I have both dds in SOTA, one graduated and another graduating this year and both in different faculty. IMO, it is a great school with many opportunities and is also a school that brings out the best of the individuals with their originalities and passion.
PM me for further details.
My ds is considering SOTA this round. Would appreciate any details & tips. I am so worried now as my ds has no music theory background but has done graded exam for chinese orchestral instrument.
thnks! -
Hi,
Is there anyone that has experience/infor/tips in DSA to SOTA via music - chinese orchestral instrument?

I agree. My dd was trying to join the drawing class at 11 am, but the whole process was a mess. The sign outside the class said \"First-come-first-serve\", so we were waiting there. Then later, one of the SOTA staff came to say the sign-ups were at the booth and it was full.... I forgave them because they are an \"arts\" school... perhaps disorganization is an important ingredient for creativity and self-expression? ... :evil:All
Did anyone go for the SOTA open house yesterday? Personally, I thought it was not well organised and fall short of expectations. For eg campus tour was simply introducing what class room available on each floor but we can't even peek or look into the class rooms. It was just classrooms after classrooms. Also, the exhibitions were not great either. Been to nanyang and RGS open house, they definitely scored much better!!!
Anyway, the Open Symposium (talk by the principal), was not fantastic either... quite uninspiring actually.... The senior students, esp. the year 5 Theatre students that we spoke with were quite outspoken, though, pretty impressive. -
Good to hear that the seniors did well. Me definitely not impressed by principal speech. Basic stuffs like toilets door locks missing and spoiled lockers I can see everywhere. If the school cannot handle simple stuff like this.. How to handle big ticket items I wonder! Not impressed

I thought the principal's speech was quite enlightening and got to understand more about the IB subjects at the exhibition...Maybe it was really useful for parents like me who do not know much about sota and IB. I also enjoyed talking to the students there, they are very vocal and confident!
My girl is in P5 this year and she was impressed, but looks like it's not easy to get in and it's quite academically challenging... -
Admission is around 80 for arts out of total school enrollment of 200… I was told by the ambassador
