      Hi,

Berries in Bishan is way tooooooo crowded, esp during the weekends. And there's no human touch. I moved DS to another branch.

      My 2 cents πŸ˜„
Exactly! Couldn't agree more... and the classrooms r so small... and no waiting area for parents...
The 2 teachers couldn't even maintain basic classroom discipline... how to get the kids to learn?

        hi,

Does Han Language in Fu Lu Shou offers Higher chinese for P6 and do you know if it's good?

My girl is with Berries now but she feels that the lessons are not challenging enough.

        Tks!

        Daddy 😧

I'm also looking S&D for my gal... but think registration is over. Need to be HK to be SHHK member?

You might want to consider Mdm Koh's S&D class at Han Language in Fu Lu Shou. She is a retired SAP school teacher and is currently focusing on Chinese S&D. Her student range from K1 to Sec 2. But she usually accept the student by latest P2. She came highly recommended by my kid's school teacher. I asked for recommendation on SHHK and she recommended me Mdm Koh instead for the proven results.

In addition, I believe Mdm Koh also currently teaches S&D in SAP school and in our case, I heard the students she teach are based on selection type.

Quite a no. of parents in KSP have sent their kids to her class (mainly preschool program). So far, the kids enjoyed themselves. For myself, my kids are with her K1-K2, P1-P2 and P3-P4 classes.

Personally, I saw 2009 year end performance put up by her students (from P1 to Sec 1) and it was awesome. You probably thought those kids were from China with the level of spoken mandarin and their ability to play kuai ban. Also quite a no. of them also performed xiang sheng. BUT the funny thing is that after performance, the kids will speak in english or those less accented singapore chinese. I personally hope that with a couple of years with Mdm Koh, my kids can have that level of results too.

S&D will definitely help in oral exams which is growing in emphasis (realised during recent meet the parents session that it has the same weightage as compo papers - 20% or 25%). In addition, over time, it will enable to kids to learn more chinese words given that they need to memorise those rao kou ling,etc...

Berries (Bishan) is very crowded on weekends? Wow thought it suppose to have more classrooms since they had moved from Thomson?

Yes, titank. Its a madhouse. Sad to say, its a factory like situation going on there. On the first lesson and day of term, the class had only 4 kids. By the 2nd, class no had reached to 12. Kids crying and crying, (mine also, but I chose to stay in the class, no choice) cuz some parents left them in the class. Teachers couldn't handle class management.

My 2 cents - They are pretty good with the method in lesson execution. Repetitive teaching of vocab words thru fun and games. But the impression is that they are just doing their jobs. But I did not withdraw DS cuz he seems to absorb the teaching method well. He remembers what he has learnt.

I transferred DS to another branch.

                Hi titank,

Go with an open mind lah....

I think your child might be older?? Mine is in N1. So maybe in terms of separation anxiety, it won't be so chaotic πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

                      Dear all

I’ve also removed my child from Molin altho there are 2 more lessons to go. Like titank , i also do not find the programme suitable at Molin… that said, I do like the teacher. Her delivery was fine … i believe there is little she could do as she has a certain course content & structure as stipulated by the centre to follow.

At the moment , i have yet to sign my boy up for anything. . . most likely looking at Kembangan Berries …have yet to arrange for trial due to CNY … etc etc. Seems like most parents think highly of Berries.

Anyone attended trials at both Tien Hsia & Berries? How do u find them?
