Hi can someone provide me the answer for the following synthesis.

Jerry asked , \" Lisa, were you at the library yesterday?
      Jerry asked ...........................................................
      Thanks in advance

Jerry asked Lisa if she had been at the library the day before.

We were just briefed on questions like this at DS' school. I believe the answer is:
Jerry asked Lisa if she had been at the library the previous day.

The high tide is washed onto the shore whenever there is a high tide.

The debris are washed onto the shore whenever there is a high tide.[/quote]Debris is uncountable... there is 'a'... ( 'a' is superfluous )
Ans : The debris is washed onto the shore whenever there is high tide.

Need help on the following transformation:

                  1. If the government raised interest rates, they would lose the election.

                  Were …

                  2. The response to our appeal was so great that we had to take on more
                  staff.

                  Such… …

                  TIA

Were the government to raise interest rates, they would lose the election.

Such was the response to our appeal that we had to take on more staff.

These are not very common S&T questions, and I am a bit rusty on the second answer (I cannot recall if the qualifier, ‘great’ is necessary). If there are any other teachers/linguists who’d like to weigh in, it would be much appreciated!
