Outside of 2km based on past years stats are likely to have no chance in balloting at Phase 2Ctemjin68:
No reason given. It was a general email only to notify parents to try other school.
Dear NYPS Parents,
I am currently staying outside 2km of NYPS, and I am very keen to enrol my boy in the school because of its academic focus and its strength in Chess. My boy came in 2nd in a recent chess competition, and wondering if NYPS would give us priority in registration for P1, even though we are outside 2km. Anyone here can help to give us some advice??
thanks alot! -

For special treatment like this, I don't think we can tell you for certain since we don't represent the school. You can only try speak to the principal and see if they give such special treatment.

IMHO, I doubt you will get priority registering. If they give you priority, then they would have to do the same for the kid who came in first? Then how about 3rd, 4th? -

thanks! Will heed your advice and aim to get in the neighbourhood school within 1km of my place first.
A bird in hand is better than 2 in the bushes, right?

Most definitely. And if you still want your child to get into NYPS, then get him to work hard and shoot for GEP.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I find myself struggling with the administrative system of NYPS & hope I get myself more updated with what’s happening in the school. I heard that the school has a blog. Can someone tell me the blog address? Is this the place where we as parents get informed about school events & happening?
Thanks -

Assuming your child is P1 this year(their blog is by year)? I can PM you the link as I don't want to be the one to send traffic jam to NYPS blogsite by putting it here.

Hi
Need help…Does NYPS has the capabilities to have students with ADHD or other special needs?

Hi temjin68
When I was doing PV a couple years ago, I did come across a 'special need' boy in the P6 class that I was escorting on an excursion. Not sure if he had ADHD, autism or other types of behavioral issues, tho'. The teacher in charge of his class seemed quite capable to handle him. The other teachers on the excursion were also helpful. But then, his case seemed quite mild - just teasing of the girls, not lining up/listening to instructions, etc.
My son's class has a 'problem kid'. Keeps forgetting homework, destroying/throwing my son's stationery (he sits next to the boy
), etc. Teacher does try to help by writing the instructions in the diary so that parents are aware (parent has to signoff) & assigning buddies to help out the boy (Teacher got my son to call his father to remind him to study for 'spelling' the following week. ).
I think the teachers are trained somewhat to help out the mild cases. You might want to check with the school for more details of specific cases.
