Hi, EN, thank you so much… I think I saw the paper on the day of orientation. But teacher allowed the kids complete at home, and submit on the first day of school…

So nervous… Monday is the School day already.

        Hi all,

Had been very busy with my little one so have to catch up a bit with you guys now…

Anyway, my child in also currently in P1 and after reading this thread, I have something to share as well as a few questions and hopefully if anyone can help me with them.

        Here it goes:

        1. Thought the CCA is only for P3 onwards? My kid brought back the form sometimes back and was asked to fill it up but after reading it, it indicates that P1 can enrol but on the condition that it is still available or the child had been taking up some basic skills in certain CCAs.

        2. I was surprised that there wasn’t spelling for Chinese. But at least there is for English.

        3. Not much of homework and it will be brought back to complete if the students are unable to complete them in class.

        4. Heard from my friend that the students will be separated into different classes for P2 with 2E (Excellent) the best and something like 2A (Average), etc… How are they being guage for their academic excellence when there’s no sitting by end of the year? Which term should I start to lookout for the ‘streaming tests’ in advance so that I can prepare my kid? Will the teachers tell them when will it be so that they can inform their parents about it? (VERY STRESS… or am I too KIASU???)

        Thanks to all!!!

          Hi Lahburlug,

Heard the school will start the chinese spelling from term 3

I am suprised that the P1 do not have CA1. As understand from my cousin, who daughter in the same school and now P2, said they have CA1 last year. I think they should still have SA1 and SA2.

Maybe will find chance to talk to my girl’s form teacher. Any feedback will keep u updated.

            Hi

Not sure if it is still the same process. There is no CA1 for P1. Ds sat for CA1 but the marks obtained were not included as the final score (that was 2 years ago), process might have changed by now.

Yes, CCA is opened to P1.

I can’t comment on spelling due to different mother tongue.

Your view on homework is the same as mine.

Yes, seperate class from P2 onwards (if process is still the same). I asked the school but no reply was given. But based on guestimation and my "kaypohing", it will depend on total average score of your child (math, English, MT). On the 2nd and 3rd class, I presume it is based on average score but the teacher told the students it is based on math result. So not sure for 2nd and 3rd class, how they derive.

My child was put in the worst class for mother tongue. His result for MT is 66. My friend happen to be his teacher, told me that he will be moved out to second class if his result for MT is above 70. So, I am not sure if this hold true for those taking Chinese as mother tongue instead.

Had spoke with the teacher. She said P1 will still have their SA1, CA2 and SA2.

CA is Continual assessment (Test for Term 1 and Term 3), while SA is Semestral assessment (Mid year exam and end year exam).

CA1 and CA2 is around end Feb/early Mar and end Aug/early Sep respectively.

SA1 and SA2 is around May and end Oct/early Nov respectively.
