      Hi

I am having a hard time trying to decide which centre is suitable for my kids (k1 and P1). I have read the numerous thread on enrichment classes for maths and want to explore the following:

      1. Maths Hub
I am concern if the IQ maths would be too difficult for them and end up having reverse effect. Is it more for olympiad training and might not be helpful for their academic?

      2. MPM
It is so popular among the forum I assume it should be good. Any comment as compare to Maths Hub?

I have looked at a few enrichment programs like Kumon, Enopi and MPM and I find them too boring and mundane for my girl and it is repeated routine i.e worksheets after worksheets. Does not encourage creativity and innovation at all.

Honestly, I don't like it coz I don't want my girl to become a robot, keep doing repeated sums. Sometimes, I just wonder how my girl is going to survive in the global economy in future if all she does is repeating routine.

I came across this advert in ST 701 today...see

        http://shops.st701.com/shops/view/280394?title=buy-sell-service-baby-children-needs-children-classes-programmes&from=%2Fshops%2Fresults%3Fsearch_text%3Dmath%2Bmonkey

From the advert, sounds interesting...I like the part about Love Math and Fun Math. Anyone has any experience on this program?

                Hi Jedamum,

Thanks for searching and directing the thread for the Math Monkey Programs to me.

Will do so, but I hope to hear from others in the forum as to their experience with the Math Monkey Programs.

The Math Monkey Centre is at East Coast Road, not so near my place, but if it is good for my girl, i am willing to make a trip there…

                      Hi,

                      1. Parents who have their children in MPM, need your advise. Understand that MPM train analytical thinking, however, are they able to complete their exam on time? Reason for asking being can’t decide between CMA and MPM. CMA trains the mind to be fast in getting and checking an answer, however it’s not analytical.

                      2. Children in MPM programme, i assume they’ve good result. can share the results in their math exam?

I started my P3 son on Kumon early this year. That is late by any standards, but his routine calculations have improved by leaps and bounds. Doesn't help much with the type of modelling questions that schools are so fond of these days, though.

My girls have been doing them since 4, now at P3 and P4 they are bored by it... they are doing bigger numbers than school and not into problem solving....but i have to admit their mental sums and multiplication is great!
