Mrsbongz:
.. if I have budget constraints.. I will head to the one in Golden Mile.. the old hainanese restaurant.. or to Novena.. the La-Mei-Zi.. their tomyam version is good.
Sounds like my cup of tea, uh, hotpot, Mrsbongz! Golden Mile is a bit too edgy for me, but Novena is within easy reach. Tks for the rec! -
Thanks to all for the recommedation. Will definitely try out some of the places mentioned!

DH and I love the ma la hot pot. use to go to the one at tangling shopping ctr. But ever since the kids came along, quite difficult to have the ma la hot pot.
I like the kimchi hotpot at Jurong Point. There is a korean eatery inside the Feast foodcourt. Their kimchi pancake is pretty good too.
But these days, the best place to have steamboat is at home. We have steamboat at least once or twice a month. -

it's ala carte buffet, eat all you can. They also hv spicy soup base. I actually like their chilli n fish glue. They used to hv the cabbage wrap but no more.
I remember Coca wasn't so good, and amount also quite little? Haven't been there in yonks. Is it buffet style also? I guess I like spicy food, like MrsBongz! -

Just remembered
M Hotel, The Buffet at Level 2 serves Hotpot Buffet Dinner.
Quite OK. -
U r welcome!, I hope u like it though.. the tom yam at La-mei-zi is not VERY spicy like Chong qing, but it''s good as a soup base.. dunno how to describe also lah.. hope u like it, anyway $12 only!!
I find Coca a little overpriced, when chong qing has a much better spread of ingredients, but I love their chilli sauce.. soooo good...

Thinking of having DIY steamboat dinner at home (for the 1st time), any ideas what ingredients to have? Will probably do Japanese shabu shabu-style:
- Sliced meat
- Shrimps
- fish glue
- tofu
- mushrooms
- Veges
- quail eggs
Thanks in advance!
