So far I’ve a good impression for lower pri as I feel that the school iso forsaking the weaker students, teachers will spend alot more efforts on them. Eg. teachers spending time on remedial lessons, CL classes for weaker students are significantly smaller so that they can get more attention from the teachers, etc… In "good" classes, the class size can go up to 40 but in "weaker" class, I heard around 20 so kids get more attention which is not necessarily a bad thing.

However, I am not sure if the same can be said for upper pri as still too early to tell. But from P3 onwards, MBS does practise having the best class which I heard from some mums that this class is taught alot more that than the normal classes, etc… Nevertheless, this appeared to be common for all schools (including neighbourhood schools).
ah yes... i was refering to ma and el only. the cl paper do hv a wider scope.
For MBS CL, I just learned that it is not sufficient to just learn how to write all the words in MOE's 'must know how to write' list. They do test the students beyond that! I saw from a past year paper where the whole section was dedicated on testing the student on words not in the list by giving them the hanyu pinyin!
          I was like  :!:

Yes yes yes.... It's common for them to test outside the list especially the application portion. It will never be exactly the same as the textbook or spelling list.

Also, I know that my kids aren't allowed to use HYPY to substitute a chinese word that they don't know during exams or compo. They must know all the characters.

The bi hua thing used to drive me nuts so I had to \"drill\" them on the individual bi hua. It's really crazy. For a few marks, we had to spend so much time learning it. Some of the bihua, I also got it wrong myself

Luckily???? in P2, they don't have that anymore. The bigger challenge now is the comprehension.

Sttressed stressed 😓 CA starts this week but yet we've done so little due to the CNY hols. Now rushing for time.
