$10k is middle income for me. Comfortable and can have savings - it’s a matter of lifestyle!

sometimes it’s all a matter of perspective. I and my wife have very successful peers. In fact, among our peers, we’re the worst off, yet our combined income is nudging the $8K monthly HDB barrier already…and we’ve been working only 6 years. But we feel very small, even my own brother, he’s been working only 3 years, but making close to $10K monthly already.

But from my experience dealing with low-income families, I do agree with the statistics, that those families making above $8K a month, is indeed above average.

More important than how much a family is making, is how much they’re spending hehe. I know of a family with only $3.5K a month, supporting 2 kids and a SAHM. I also know of a family over $10K monthly, and they can hardly cope with only 2 kids.

        Thus, numbers alone is pointless.

          So you have

          family earning 10k (basic needs?)

          1) Maid's salary $520 per month
          2) Childcare $300 per month
          3) Car $1k per month
          4) income tax?
          5) Utilties, Telephone bills, broadband, mtce chgs, property tax and etc

          family earning 3.5k and SAHM

          what do they spend on?

Do they have a maid? maybe they can go for kindergarten, no car but they have to pay no. 5

So the more you earn the more you spend! 😐

i still find that amount managable for the family size stated above. unless they need the subsidies to offset that piano lessons or brain training lessons for their children, or their thousand of dollars of bankloan for their private property. unless there is some one on long term medical attention, $10k a month is still high income in my opinion.

it is the consequence of their own financial planning...
            Agreed ! :goodpost:

How old are you???? Going to hit 30 only. This left me very curious as from your posting, you sounded like an experienced \"mature\" man who eat salt more than we eat rice  Joking ok.

i cannot visualise a $10k per month family needing subsidies.

i will be :!: if these group of people are included in govt subsidies plan.

wat if need to support 4 children parents and parents in law and maid?

and cars, club membership, and condo instalments.
