Based on past experiences of my child, they didn’t show us the average for child’s class and their level. As for carelessness, I think it’s in every child, depending on severity. Heard our P3 Eng paper was very ez and some classes with average 42/50, testing on carelessness and not their English standard. However, màth was a little challenging as a lot complained section C lacking of time (son’s class, half raised their hands for incomplete work done). Science and CL normal and same as Eng with more than enough time to complete. My take is ez paper is never to the advantage of any child since they will be sitting for national exams at the end of the day. I rather they be exposed to it and tackle them at ease because teachers taught em well. My child has not received his results except for HALF of his Eng and CL. Think they are taking more than usual time to mark. As for PTM, let teachers speak and we can access if they are doing their job. If we talk too much, wonder if it may affect their impression on our children. Heard teachers nowadays are different…

Dear Parents, today my P2 child brought back the MA papers. His grades is between 34 to 36. I was totally upset and so was he. Many were very careless mistake that could have been avoided, especially the Math paper. I reprimanded (and almost canned) him but I thought I might have overly reacted. I could not control my anger and disappointment. I feel so lousy that I did not teach him well.

In the upcoming PMT, do think teacher will disclose the the average grade if i asked? I just want to have a gauge of how my son fairs as compare to rest of the cohort. At least, if this is indeed poor grades, I think I should send him to tuition classes. Currently, I am teaching him on my own and it seems not effective.
Appreciate if parents could share your thoughts.

Sorry to say but I do think you have over reacted. This is life! Whatever hard work you put in may not necessarily translate into results. The main thing is how to deal with the mistakes and learn from it. I don't think punishing him here is appropriate. Yes, you are angry. You are upset. But I'm sure he doesn't feel that great either. Just think of years in future, if he makes a mistake, if he gets poor results, will he dare come home to see you? After reading news of kids who jump down because of poor results, I think it is important for you to show love and kindness here. So what even if he is at the bottom of the class. Yes, it may be disheartening esp as parents, we want them to be the best. We want to be proud of our children. We have so much dreams for them. But ultimately, it's our own pride at work.

Go through the questions with him and show him how he can be better and score better next time. Set him a higher target to achieve for the next round. He is only primary 2. There are plenty more difficult tests ahead. And please, give him a hug and say you are sorry and you still love him. He will face a hard world outside but at least he knows he can come home to you when he's at his dumps.

I am guilty of setting too high an expectation, and always comparing him with the elder sis who is in a all girls’ school. I find that PCPS standard is slightly higher and also both children are different. I should try to stop comparing (not easy though).
He was among top 3 last year so it was a nightmare when he brought back the results. I did not expect him to do so badly this time. His best friend who was also among top 3 last year scored 38 for all the papers so my poor son is really falling behind.
Anyway, the years ahead is still very long… I will try to be more encouraging and yes, results is not the most important thing in life.
Many parents commented P2 to P3 is a great jump and so is P4 to P5. There will be more nightmares I believe. Haiz!!

There is some \"hear-say\" that the school will be re-allocated in AMK (the current holding site of KCPPS) for 2 year but the move is not so soon (unlikely to be in Jan 15). Nevertheless, there is no official letter from the school yet. We can check with the FT during the PMT next week.

Thanks for update. Actually my kid not in there yet… Thinking of logistics arrangement in the coming years so trying to find out more.

The AMK holding site is the one opposite ITE Central (AMK) right?

Hi wish, let me check with my boy’s FT on Fri if there’s any update regarding the move… If it’s really the current holding site of KCPPS, it’s opposite AMK Pri Sch.
