2015 PSLE Discussion and Strategies
-
My DS finished his exams by second week of May and a lot of stuff were either rushed or not taught.. ...
Now they are back to normal schedule so hardly any post-exam celebration..

Funz you must be happy with her results. In my DD class most of the girls grades has dropped.Even the top girls marks as slight down a bit.mum03:
Looks like the 2015 PSLE discussion is very quite. Next year I presume it will come alive with our DC PSLE.
How was the jump for SA1 for your kids. Is it a very big jump or they are mantaining the results as P4. My DD results as slip a bit to As. She normally score high Band 1, but now slip to As.
How about the rest?????
DD maintaining about the same. Except for Chinese. Big drop.
Now have to see whether they pick up during the SA2 -

I wonder why the rush in the syllabus, Why can't the school teach the classes without rushing through. For the last 3 weeks, though she has normal lesson but most of the time is doing holistic stuff.
The school should put the time to better use -
Hi mum03,
Parents are waiting for the up coming PTM to voice their concerns.. ...

Went for PTM yesterday. The FT has only good thing to tell about my DD. Was happy with the overall assessment of my DD.
One thing I was not happy about I only realised it when I reached home to check my DD report card was they only printed the class level, not the whole cohort level results for comparison.
How will I know how my DD did compare to the whole cohort as I only have the class level. FYI her class is mix abilities, they only move classes according to abilities for MT and Maths.
Does any of your schools does the same, or you are given the the class as well as the whole cohort.
I don't understand why it was not given? :? -
DS school stopped the ranking by cohort years back. Donβt even have ranking in class. Just total score.
-
Mum03, DD can do better. So I am satisfied she managed to maintain, but I do wish she will wake up soon and realise the significance of all these tests and exams. She can throw away an entire test if on that day she is not in the mood to put in effort or if something distracts or upset her.
I did not attend her PTM but her Math tchr called me. Spoke about how DD definitely has the potential to do better than what she is doing now. Tchr thinks she can aim for A* for math. I told the tchr I just hoping for high A. If can get A* that will be a bonus. End of the day it is up to DD to find the drive to work towards whatever she wants to achieve. -

Yah, most schs remove class or cohort ranking,
Unless u are top 3 in co-hort then we will know (prize giving event)
And top scorer per subject in the cohort
there are no prizes for top 3 positions in class too
But i know of some sch, encourages the kids by creating lots of awards
eg top scorer in class ( regardless of which class u are in or mayb the scores is only 60 but top in class, the child get a "top in class" cert/prize

Thanks for all the feedback, now I understand why the school is going into this direction of not revealing the class and cohort level.
