Do you trust statistic especially from gov? I don't really believe. I just treat them as numbers.

Do you imply that actually you think the ministers' salary is lower than published? Or may be it's actually way higher. šŸ˜‰

To me, there's no need for gvt to play with income stats here. Even the same for other things. But they can choose what to hide from us. šŸ˜Ž

As with any numbers, people are driven to present it in a way that drive the message they want to drive. So I believe this is also the case for govt statistic.

Although no government is totally transparent, why would they wanna manipulate the numbers lower? Wouldn't they want to manipulate the numbers higher, to make it seem as if people are better off under their leadership?

I don't think they played with the numbers here. Not to their advantage.

I think the gov would want to portrait a society with small income gap.

For high income they would rather report slightly lower for low income they would report slightly higher.

and after tweaking low-income people higher, the median household income is only around $5K monthly? :?

I'm not an ardent PAP supporter, but it doesn't seem logical for them to tweak these figures.

To show everyone or the world that everyone in Singapore is well taken care of.

chey...if they wanna show that, must tweak median household income to $10K or above....$5K per month per household is pathetic lah LOL

There must be an optimal value for this. They can't be showing the world they are idiot and they also cannot treat us like morons too. The number cannnot be too high or too low as long as majority feel comfortable with it, their job are done.
