So does it mean that by looking at the history of balloting exercise for phase 2C for 2014 intake, only for SC within 1 Km away can try register for that primary school? If residing within 1-2km, no need to try registering in that school?

I do not have any school within 1km away...

If you do not have any schools within 1km away, there are still schools that accept SC within 1 to 2km, and some without ballots.

If you do not have any schools within 1 to 2km, or do not want to face the ballots, there are also schools that accept SC > 2km without ballot.

It's just a matter of prioritising what you want.

Thanks for the reply… So it is the school that decides if there should be balloting made and set criteria on it too? In fact the primary school that I had in mind is the nearest to us… Within 1-2 Km. But if based on previous yr record, the balloting is done for SC residing 1km away, meaning I had no chance at all? Thanks in advance!

The school doesn't decide on this. At the beginning of the P1 registration, every school has a finite number of places. So, it depends on the number of places taken up in earlier phases.

If balloting is only for SCs staying within 1 km of the school, you will be wasting your P2C chance if you insist on applying with the school even though you stay 1-2 km away from the school.

Having said that, statistics are statistics. Registration situation differs every year. So, you need to keep track.

For ppl who are church members, they can skip the balloting process and to phase 2B directly?

Starting from this year, 40 seats have to be set aside…this is a big change for those in 2B/C compared to previous years. This new rule will affect all schools since it is top down decision. Parents of kids in these 2 phases have much to rejoice.

Hi, based on the new 40 places given to P2B & P2C, I need some advises on the priorities on school selections/area which may stand higher chance to enrol, cos my child will be under P2C in all situations for coming July P1 registration. The only school within 1km to our main home is, White Sands Primary (which I am not so favorable to enrol).


Other alternatives that we can to move are:-
Novena - ACS (Junior), St Joseph’s
Bishan - Ai Tong, Catholic High
Marine Parade - Tao Nan, Ngee Ann, Tanjong Katong Pri

i don't think it wil affect all schools, only those schools at the top like HPPS, NYPS and AItong will benefit from this..
