Don’t worry too much. From what I see from my girl, there are various projects that require them to work in groups, but manageable. Same for homework.

My girl does not have whatsapp, because she is using a very very old iPhone so not able to install whatsapp. She uses Facebook quite a lot I think, when she has wifi connection at home.

For me, I bought 3 sets of uniform and 3 sets of PE attire, reason due to sec one orientation this year was 3D2N and PE attire was required. I bought the socks from school but black shoes,(sch require) I bought 2 pairs from sport link due to nicer design. The vendor will tell you to buy 1 polo shirt which the students can wear it on Friday but for me it’s a waste as my girl doesn’t like the design so she rather wear the full uniform on Friday.

If I remember correctly, the students can wear white shirt instead of PE shirt if they run out of PE attire during the sec one camp. In Sec one this year, there are 3 PE lessons in week one and 2 lessons in week two, so should be ok if buy only 2 sets.

If any child choose Nan Chiau as 1st choice in S1 posting with score 250 and above, must go to the general office and apply the S$800 special award given by the school.


This is enough to pay 4 years school fee and buy Sec 1 textbooks.

Exclude HCL.

In order to be eligible for the $800 special award, the students must get minimum 250 (exclude HCL point).

My friend dd get 249 + 2, is unable to get the award. *BANG HEAD*

I passed by the school today and saw a poster regarding the school funfair on 5 July 2014. Is it open to the public? Since the school open hse is usually in Nov each year, is the funfair a good opportunity for p6 students to get a feel of nan chiau? Thanks.

IIRC, the open house last year was for 2 days - same day as the PSLE results were released, and the day after. There were student councilors to give us a short school tour and teachers were around for Q&A. If you go for the school fun fair, you could probably get a feel of the school culture, but I don’t think you’ll be able to ask questions regarding the school. Any way, no harm to take a closer look inside the school. This is especially so since most Sec Sch open houses are on the same day after PSLE results are released, and you may not have time to visit all the schools that you are interested in.
