For those who followed our sharing earlier on...on the Seletar piano teacher.

After abruptly ended our lesson, she did not return the fee we paid for the planned recital lesson that she is organizing in July. After more than a week of termination, I asked to collect my money back (since the lesson was terminated by her), and the teacher got very worried. I asked that I stop by to collect since my house is a just a stone's throw away and she refused to see me. Asked for my bank account and insisted that she banked in for me immediately yesterday night. I sensed she was very worried last night. That was also a shame to her name for not returning our money earlier until asked to do so - trying to pocket it. I wanted to tell her off on this incident but I did not.

Some parents have also written to me and rightly guessed who this teacher was, of course with bad reputations from their experience. I am more convinced now that the teacher terminated our lesson not merely because of misalignment in expectation (which is a more objective reason), but because of her poor personality (i.e. hot tempered, impatient, lack of integrity, teaching out of selfish reasons).

Glad that we are moving on now 🙂 Thank very much to those who had wrote in via PM and for your good advice. Truly, God only has a better plan for us and He is taking away the bad choices in our lives!

        :thankyou:

Hi, I need a piano teacher who is able to prepare my boy for grade 8 piano exam and motivate him. Although ds did well for his last exam, he seemed to lose interest in piano and find his piano lesson boring. His teacher is good but I think there is a mismatch in her teaching style and his learning style. Prefer teacher in Sengkang or punggol area. Appreciate parents’ recommendation.

            Hi,

Any good piano teacher around Tiong Bahru/Queenstown/Telok Blangah to recommend for my girl who is 5 years old? She is currently learning at Cristofori group lesson but I would like to find a private teacher for her. I am looking for teacher who can engage with the kid and arouse their interest in music.

                hi,

i would like to seek your advice.

Currently my child has been learning piano with a private teacher (1-1) for 3 years and she is still in basic beginner stage.
Before she was with this private teacher, she has completed yamaha JMC.
I wonder 3 years of doing basic after completion of JMC, is that too slow for my child? Should i switch teacher? Thank you.

If it's my child , I would see if he is progressing .. And if he is still interested .. If he is then it's fine but if no progression , I would change a teacher..

During the time with this teacher, has he/she mentioned or brought up exams for your child? If no, possibly state your interest in registering your child for exams next year and see what the teacher says. After 3 years and JMC, your child should be ready to try for at least Grade 1 if not Grade 2 exams.
