June:
yes i love the critical thinking bit too as i feel the school are focusing a lot on such heuristic learning and this could help them in future in terms os pattening, spacial reasoning

Me too, likes the critical thinking part. i just started my son last mth, so far he enjoys going and likes to do the worksheets very much

Hi Taurus, mind to ask which centre ur ds goes? -
Does anyone have experience with both MPM and Enopi and can comment on both programs? From MPM to Enopi or from Enopi to MPM, what was the reason for switch?
I have visited centres of both systems, and am deciding which one to send my K1 son to. He did assessment at both centres.
Thanks a lot.
p.s. I read thru all the threads regarding preschool maths, couldn’t find too many feedback from parents with actual experience with both systems. -
Hi st999, since you have visited both centres and done the test respectively, do you find the difference of these two? Which one will have more structured programe to help our children in arithmatic & problem solving/critical thinking?

From what I see, Enopi have both arithmatic and problem solving parts. I am not sure about the critical thinking though (btw, what is \"critical thinking\"?) The materials coves 3+3, 4+3, the chics and rabbits in the same cage kind of questions, a bit of pattern ABAA?A type questions. Workbooks are colorful.
MPM, on the other hand, has mostly logic/IQ questions, not a lot of words in the workbooks I saw.
I don't know which one is better though. still trying to decide which one to send my son to. -
yup i m struggling bet the 2 also. but mpm is definitely more convenient. anyone knows where the serangoon branch is? is it near the serangoon mrt? what bus services go there?
-
st999: Critical thinking are also term as heuristic Maths which is gaining popular in school, these kind of questions eg Jimmy, Tom and Alice went to a birthday party, and if they shook hands with one another once, how many hand shakes will there be? These kind of questions involved the kids to put on their thinking cap and early exposure to the kids will be good.
I not too sure of MPM but Enopi does revision of some of the topics which is helpful especially the tougher topics

Hi June, Thanks for the info.
-
hi June, st999, called up MPM, was told the program oso covers heuristic maths and spiral maths, meaning that step by step deriving formula/ model from easy to difficult level but enopi only applies the formula to the application without the derivation phases....
More confusion now....each claims its advantage :? Any experienced parents to clarify the differences and approaches of these two?? -
Hi,
I believed that individual programme got it advantage and disadvantage, it will be depending what you are looking for and whether children like it or not.
