Any tips for RI DSA? I had my GAT test on 20th june. I'm applying through the Math domain. Not in GEP. I have done fairly well for my mid-year exam this year, 3A1A* and merit for higher chinese. I'm currently studying in East View Primary School. Is there any chance for me to get confirm for DSA? If yes, what are my chances? Thank you for your help.

      Hi EStone..

I 'met' you at the 2014 DSA thread. You set up a KSP account to find out more about DSA and RI. You are a mature & sensible boy. Most kids will just leave these 'jobs' to their parents, my DS2 included !

Do your parents know of your DSA application to RI ? What is their advice to you ?

Since you asked for our opinions, I shall be very frank with you..

In my opinion, 3As 1A* is not good enough for RI DSA (Academics). Even 4 A*s is not good enough. To be frank with you, nobody knows what is 'good enough' for RI DSA (Academics). There have been cases of very outstanding pupils not granted CO from RI, not even WL..

Btw, Have you received notification to attend Round-2 on 19 July? If you have, congrats! Go for the subject domain test with an open mind. Try your best. If your best is not good enough for RI (now), its alright. Take it as a learning experience..

DSA is not the only route to join RI. As mentioned by another forummer, more than 2/3 of mainstreamers join RI via S1 Posting, thru their excellent PSLE results. You can be one of them too..

Whatever the outcome of your DSA application, don't feel discouraged. Focus on the more important PSLE. Do your BEST. Your dream may come true when the time is right. All The Best !!

        Hi Estone,

I agreed w Firefly’s comment. Indeed, it shows that you are an independent boy and your determination to go for RI. I have my nephew who is in Yr 4 RI now. During his PSLE time, he cleared the 1st round for DSA but did not proceed for 2nd cos he felt that he wasn’t good enough. He was fr Mee Toh and used to be the top 3 in his whole cohort. To me, he is a very bright boy who does not go for any tuition and I take him as a good example that my girl can look upon. However, he did not fare to expectation for both mid yr and prelim. The prelim affected him badly. He managed to study hard and got in not by DSA but thru PSLE with 263.

All the best to you as you sit for PSLE this yr. My girl is also taking her PSLE too and she is trying for RGS. Hope to see you in RI!

            Hi estone
According to my son 's experienced the subject domain was supper tough :scared: as they tested those upper secondary stuffs!! Thus, he did not get thru the 2nd round.. Fortunately , he done well in psle (with t score 265 )and got into RI 😓
I'm proud of your parents to have such a mature & sensible boy like you... You are the dream kid that many of us parents wish for... Based on your positive attitude I strongly believe that you will pass ur psle with flying colours and have a very bright future ! Wish you get into ur dream school and good luck !
            Cheers

              Hi there.

As for reference, I honestly think that 3A and 1 A* isn't going to put you in. There are people from my current batch that were rejected even with a NMOS Silver/Gold. Try though! Give it your best. You haven't been rejected until you've tried. Even so don't lose hope. Just because you're not in RI doesn't mean you're in any way inferior. Other students will and do in fact perform better then RI students sometimes!!
As to anyone here who has questions regarding the school, feel free to ask me! I'm a Year 3 currently studying in RI and I'm really proud of my school! 🙂

Thank you parents and friends for your kind tips. I will make sure to do my best for PSLE. As for firefly38's question, my parents know about my application for RI.But they are unable to give me any advice as they are new to the dsa thing too. I am willing to take up the challenge of RI no matter how difficult may be. As for now, thank you all so much for the advise. I'll make sure to inform you all when I get the email for round 2. 😄 😄 😄 😄 :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

This question is for anyone who has gone through Y4 at RI. Can anybody advise if it is possible to travel for holiday right after the HMT ‘O’ level paper in early Nov? Or must Y4s wait till the official end of school term in mid-Nov to go for vacation?

I would also like to share the latest IMO 2014 results. Singapore team, of which 4 out 6 members are from RI, did well to win 3Golds, 2silvers n a bronze. All the golds were won by RI boys! Congratulations!
