U wat to contribute? -
ningy:
Last yr, meet the parents session is one-to-one with the form teacher (only abt 10 mins) - other parents sitting behind can hear if u talk too loud and teacher glancing at them apologetically if u take up too much time. Then meet the chinese teacher in another room only if she needs to talk to u or u can go to that room and arrange to talk to her ie. if u have some queries and she's free. dunno if this yr the practice is still the same. there'll be another meet the parents session later in the year if needed (ie. forms given to only a few in the class); otherwise this will be the only time we can talk to the form teacher.
Thanks ningy for the details.
It is only the 3rd month and I'm wondering what will we talk about.
Past yrs when DD is in CCC, they also had meet-the-parents session and this is normally towards end of the yr.
I believe the common qns will be: 'how's her behaviour', 'how her work', etc.
What else to ask? :? -
I suppose the usual staff : child’s mental and social dev whether any problems concentrating in class and can get along with peers; participate in class - dare to speak her/his views. guess the teacher will highlight any problems/ issues. for most parents, when there’s not much issue/ things to discuss/ improve, the session is quite fast - 5 or 10 mins. since the class size is quite small (30 students) and one teacher is teaching most subjects (eng, maths and health education), this teacher spends so much time with the class and should know them very well now. if there’s any problems either behavioural or academic (especially when there’s test already), we must work together with the teacher and improve when there’s still time (way b4 the major exams). gd opportunity to ask all that u want to ask but never have the chance to see the teacher; and also can mingle with other parents (if they look friendly) while waiting for ur turn.

Thank you, Chief. Will take note next time.
Later have to bring my DD to polyclinic for checkup as she fell on the school bus & injuried her left arm.

Blurbee, oh dear, how’s ur dd now ? how did that happen ? if she’s right handed, she still can write while letting her left arm rest.
