      Hi all,

I would like to check if there are any mummies registering dd for 2015 intake? if so, any idea if there is school open house for OLQP? I was told CHIJ Kellock has school open house.

No, I don't think they have open house.

We are considering the school as well. My DD also registering this year. No open house means we can't find out more about the school?

I’m confused about the chart of balloting history.

Based on last year, can anyone advise me what was the chance of getting in the school if more than 2km?

Hello…I am an ex student of Kellock Convent but due to the distance we are looking at CHIJ OLQP for my daughter’s primary one in 2015.

I am still weighing the pros and cons cos frankly I hope to see my daughter study in CHIJ, but due to the distance, we may have to let her study in a school nearer to our home.

          Any advice?

              babybaby,

Am also thinking of enrolling my daughter in CHIJ OLQP. i wanted to register her in Bukit Panjang Primary School but her K2 teacher told me to very seriously consider putting her in OLQP. She highly recommends it. Says the school environment is really very good and no child get lost or left behind. I was quite impressed to observe how passionate she is about the school and teachers. Her two daughters recently graduated and are now in MGS.

what have you heard so far? Which phase are you registering your daughter in btw?

My daughter is in P1 this year.

No regrets choosing this school because it is a very good fit for my daughter, and we all love the environment.
The school emphasises on a holistic education. So far they have been doing a fair amount of character/values building - my daughter comes back and shares about what they are taught during life skills, assembly, etc - so this school does take character education seriously. From the interactions my girl has had with her seniors, and my own observation of the girls, I find that most of them are very well-behaved, which I take as a sign of the school’s excellence in character building. Of course my girl has had unpleasant experiences from time to time but that is part and parcel of being in a school environment, and the instances have been few and far in between compared to the positive experiences she has had.
I cannot speak for the school in terms of academics; if you look at the past stats for the school within the old school slides, the scores are quite decent, but they may not be up to some people’s expectations. My personal feel when comparing the work she is doing at P1 with the work some of my other friends’ P1 kids are doing, is that the school moves at a relatively slower pace for Chinese (but which suits my daughter because she doesn’t go for any Chinese enrichment class and she picks up Chinese slower). I think the English is decent standard, Maths prob about average. But eventually at upper primary I suppose they level up with other schools because I also know another girl from last year’s P6 who went to MGS. If I don’t remember wrongly the top student went to NYGH (saw her pic in the newsletter from last semester).

Overall if you are looking for a balanced and loving school environment, I would highly recommend this school. If you are looking for a school that is academics-focused, then this may not be the school for you.

I'm so happy that we were successful today in securing a seat at CHIJ OLQP under phase 2B. My gal is so excited and looking forward to starting P1. Heard lots of good feedbacks on OLQP and I'm sure my gal will be very happy there. Can't wait to buy her uniform and for P1 Orientation. 😄

Congratulation to you. We welcome your dd to this big family. Yes, it is indeed a good place to study. My dd was not so lucky as yours. She went through the hard way 2 years ago but no regret.

Hi, we are thinking of registering our girl for the 2015 intake, under phase 2C as we are within 2km.

We are very thankful that the school is in our vicinity as our girl has been requesting to get into a ‘church school’ as she calls it. We are Christians and not Catholics, so I would like to ask if my girl will be able to attend chapel services (sorry I do not know if that’s what it’s called). Is there service every Friday or something?

Hi Lynn, I would suggest you call up the school to check it out.
