The difference is really big, isn't it ? RMPS abt 4% abv 250 whereas Ai Tong nearly 30% abv 250. Looks like parents have a valid reason to send their kids to Big Name primary school by all means, don't they ? -
What is more ? RMPS is already the most sought after school in Bukit Merah, requiring balloting and many went in thru the P2B route year after year.

Mind if i add in my humble opinion.....
Statistics being statistics, I think the most important thing is feeling comfortable with your choice. Sure, MOE says every school is a good school..... Its a valid statement but every school is not equal... That's why parents choose and compare!!!!
Given that everyone has different circumstances and resources, the comparison never ends..... So I feel if you are comfortable and feel good with your choice school, its good enough. Risk regretting later for not trying even if its a popular and hot choice, perhaps if a parent thinks calculated risks are worthwhile, do go for it if you don't mind taking what's left later on, if not successful in the earlier attempts.

Actually im still a little shock over the results, if the info of what qms had gathered is correct. In this case i seriously do hope the P of RMPS will do more to push up the sch’s academic results.
Despite the so so academic results, base on the website, i do feel that the sch has put in a lot of efforts in exposing kids to various things like IT, learn diff music instruments, sch camps, third language and sports. All these have been nicely planned out and incorporated into the curriculum. And all these definitely take up a lot of time and effort fr teachers in order to roll out successfully. Maybe thats the cause in the drop in results?
Ive also heard of a sch’s std dropping due to a change in P. The new P focus on holistic education, rolls out many programs, but that subsequently cause the sch academic results to drop. Guess it is hard to have the best of both worlds?
The focus now is on the Ps of APS. Do they want to make the new sch an academic driven one? Or one that focus more on other areas. -

I think I must reiterate that the information I posted earlier on was what I heard. I do not have any concrete evidence to substantiate it. So, parents, please do your own research, too, and share here if you have any further information to correct and enlighten me.
The school has been achieving almost 100% passing rate and the average T-score has been consistently above national average every year. Performances for all the subjects have been above national average, too. -
Yes indeed, qms thank u for your clarification, parents need to do their own research and make their own judgement.

Hi, rung up RMPS to find out 2013 PSLE performance. All the clerk was able to tell me was that passing rate was above 99%. The rest of the info (e.g. avg T-score, number of children with >240 etc) were not disclosed (MOE policies). I told her some schools do mention their PSLE performance i.e. number of kids with >250, but clerk said it's actually not allowed by the MOE. :roll:

Did you just call up the school? No wonder nobody picked up my call. The staff must have been receiving many calls from prospective parents that they are scared of answering phone calls.

The school prides itself in consistently achieving an overall passing rate and average T-score that are higher than national averages.
School's point of view: What's the use of knowing the score for top scorer and number of students who scored more than a certain T-score if your child is not one of them?
RMPS' principal wants everyone to score well, rather than concentrate on the stronger students. Hence, you see some good teachers teaching the weaker students, too. In this school, it is not true that all good teachers are assigned only to the better classes. -
Haha. I called before 830am. The lady was in a happy mood when we first started the conversation. And at the end, I could feel a sense of regret in her tone for picking up my call.
So parents may stop calling the school up wrt results. They are just not telling. :evil:
