Hi everyone, im new here. Next year my son starts P1, he has already secured a place in River Valley Primary School due to his mum is a former student. Currently, we are discussing whether to let him study at Zhangde Primary as it is walkable distance from our house (less than 10 mins). Everyone know these two schools well? We are driving him to school so we would like to know how is the traffic there in the morning? There is no place to place our car so we just park outside the school? Can anyone suggest which school is better? If given a choice, which school will you enroll your kid and why?

        Thanks 🙂

My only concern for aps is, does moe have a policy of sending newly graduated teachers to new schs?

will prefer experienced teachers to teach the kids.
You need experienced teachers to set up the system and structure. Don't you think it will be very, very tough for the principal if he/she needs to \"carry\" the teachers, in addition to the other duties required? In fact, the principal may be given the freedom to choose the \"pioneer\" batch of teachers just to ensure the smooth running of the school.

          Speaking of pioneer generation..... 😉

            Hello everyone,

Like many of you, we are in a dilemma to choose between APS or RVPS.

We are very impressed by the charisma of the P,VP and her team of teachers and the new facility of APS. At the open house, we spoke to many teachers and were equally impressed by their enthusiasm and passion for teaching. We saw one P1 girl running to hug her form teacher during our visit and the teacher looked very loving and caring. Surely a new school will face many challenges but the P and her team is very experienced and confident so we also will have confidence that APS may become the next Rulang in central.

RVPS is a school with older history but the facility looks quite run down and the mood of the school quite boring in our opinion. We heard at that open house they will be building a indoor sports complex at the field next year so expect the school to be quite dirty and dusty since the field is just outside and near to the existing lower Primary classrooms. During our visit, we noticed that the classrooms especially those at the back of the school near to the field seem poorly lit.

Do we choose RVPS because it has been around for a longer time?

Can anyone advise on the PSLE results of RVPS?

            Thank you.

Tiong Bahru Dad, ive looked at both zps and aps sch works. Guess they should be abt the same. In both schs, children seems to do quite alot of writings. Teachers are caring. However, I have more confidence in aps principals than zps. Ive spoken to aps vp and several teachers, they are really nice. Also, zps psle is not that fantastic. After so many years, its standard is still the same. Maybe theres something to do with sch culture? And somehow i seem to see more badly behaved zps kids ard. And they do not give me a gd impression of the sch.

For my son, he likes aps simply cos its new and brightly lighted. Zps and esp rmps sch compounds are kind of old and dim.

Aps is like a wild card. Nobody will know what it will be like in future. However, parents seems to have high confidence in aps to do well.

              Qms,
Thanks. Im just afraid aft this pioneer batch of experienced teachers, moe will start appointing freshly graduated teachers to fill up the vacancies. Glad that moe does not have such policy.

After your rave review for APS be prepared more parents will now opt for APS over other schools in Bukit Merah 😉

Haha. Yes. I'm kind of like selling the school hor. But if you read other forums, these are the similar reviews that people have given.

Thinking why so few parents join this forum. Maybe they don't dare to write too much analysis on schools fearing that they will face tougher competition during registration? 🤷

Think i should go hush hush for now too. Enoff of advertising. Hehe.

In terms of transportation and logistics options, I feel that zdps has the best location… sheltered all the way to bus stop and mrt… no other bm school come close…

Agree. If ZDPS produce just one top-tier PSLE student, it'll probably surpass its neighbors in the popularity stakes since it has ticked all the other boxes. As it is, balloting is required for P2C. Possibly for those SC within 1-2km this year?

I think you really live up to your name: kan cheong spider (just joking. No offense, ok?). Now, you are concerned with the teachers after this pioneer batch? Turnover only comes with new management (aka principal). Since the current principal is there for barely a year, you can safely assume she will be there for the duration of your child's primary education. So, IF MOE really were to appoint freshly graduated teachers subsequently, it will be to teach the lower primary levels. By then, your child will be a senior in the school already.
