Like your username :). Out of curiosity, wat courses are you taking at the moment? I ve teaching qualifications and experience, so i guess i cud always go back to that. But truth be told, I dont really like teaching. Hv been doing PR before I quit, but not realistic to return to PR. Part time work (the kind that pays more than $6 an hr) hard to come by.
In any case, like you said, dont hv much of a choice. 2 kids. DS going to P1 nex year. Cant leave to maid rt.
I've been going for some short courses at SGX. These are usually technical analysis, as I'm familiar with fundamental analysis. Used to work in the corporate finance field, so quite natural for me to extend into this to i) continue to be in touch with happenings in the industry, ii)help me better manage my timing and risk management, iii) get better yield than FDs and iv) earn some pocket money.
I'm super kiasi, so happy with results so far as only I can do my 'work' when DS is away at school. It's time consuming, but hey, I'm doing it my own time, own target.
Never believe in all those get-rich-quick schemes or expensive programmes that promise to make money without lifting a finger or any in-depth knowledge. Everything takes effort. -
Hi everyone,
I was a SAHM from the time my daughter was born till she was 1 yr 2 months old.
Now been back to the workforce for a while. Child in care of grandparents.
Need to go back to work mainly to support my parents, who prefer me to work (all that education blah blah). But after going back to work I feel that I have so much more personal time… really missed that.
Initially long term plan was to be sahm again after second child (not expecting yet), but now am in two minds. -
DS1 told me to go work, he said if I go work, then got $$ to buy toys for him.
(sometimes I tell him I dun have $$, cos I not working....hahah) -
Hello all SAHMs,
I thought I should check myself in here since I’ve been a SAHM for over 3 years. I had no choice as we don’t have parents or PILs in town to help watch the kids. For me the biggest advantage being a SAHM is being able to spend more time with the kids and closely monitor their develpment. The biggest disavantage is the narrowing of social circles. I also feel SAHM is a very under-appreciated and discriminated job. -

Hi staypositive, I was also in finance before and mainly did fundamental analysis. Now that I have time to do trading for my PA, technical analysis seems more useful. I've been looking for related courses. How are the course at SGX? -
I should visit this thread often too. I am a SAHM for 4.5yrs. My dd is in P3 and ds P1 this yr.
I agree with minnie2004 that SAHM's social circle is really small in S'pore. So, it is good to chance upon this thread for all SAHM to share.

Hmm? You can always convert cyber friends to physical friends thru the old-fashioned meet-ups @ Macdonalds or somethingI second that.

Like yourself, I am at home because of the kids. I quit working when I was expecting my son and didn’t think of going back to work. He was born with cleft lip and palate, so it was even more difficult to find a job.
My social life is ZERO esp since I have no maid now. Life revolves around the children. When hubby & I get a chance to go out on our own, we keep thinking about them. -
