Dear Potential Phase 2C Supplementary Parents,

We received calls today with regard to Phase 2C Supplementary registration next week and thought we share our response with all of you as well.

If you've moved to a new flat in Bukit Panjang, it's best to have the new address updated in your I/C. Doing so will afford you the greatest chance of securing a place in West Spring Primary.

If you've any other queries, please call Mdm Noor at 63144192 from Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm. Alternatively, you may PM us (just like some parents have done). 😉

          Dear Newly Registered Parents,

We're looking into the possibility of conducting the student care registration some time after the end of the whole P1 Registration Exercise 2014. More details will be shared with you once we've firmed up plans with Pro-Teach, our current student care operator. 😄

            Dear Aufa1217,

We share your excitement in preparing your child for P1 next year. 🕺

Textbooks, stationery, PE attire, school socks, school shoes, school jacket etc. will be sold on Orientation Day. School bookshop will be opened a few days to allow parents ample time to purchase all these items for their children.

Approximate costing for all items to be bought is likely to be less than $300.00. It all depends on items you select to purchase. Whilst many items to be bought are compulsory, there're also optional items, left to parents' discretion to purchase.

You may pay in cash or cheque to the bookshop on that day. :please:

Dear Potential Phase 2C Supplementary Parents,

Updates on more phone queries received today & sharing with all of you:

                1) Students are not banded and will be placed into classes at random. Teachers however, will use differentiated teaching approaches to cater to each child’s learning needs. In some cases, students needing more attention will be placed in smaller class sizes.

                2) All our teachers are specially selected through rigorous interviews conducted by the Principal, Vice Principal and Heads of Dept and are experienced.

                3) The school has a culture of openness, whereby we regularly invite parents to join us in school events, together with their children.

                4) We’ve a very strong and active Parent Support Group where current parents play an active role in lending support in our school’s programmes. This has enabled us to successfully implement a variety of PLAY programmes for our West Springers.

                5) We place emphasis on character education and consistently inculcate in West Springers our school values through our varied curriculum.

                6) We currently have students from beyond Bukit Panjang namely, Bukit Batok and Choa Chu Kang. Our bus operator runs services along these routes as such.

                7) Parents who have already secured a place in another school but who are now deciding to place their children at West Spring are advised to call our school up next Wednesday afternoon to check on the available vacancies first before withdrawing your children from the other school.

We wish you all the best in making this very important decision for your children.

If you’ve any more queries, please contact Mdm Noor at 63144192 from Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 4.00pm.

Dear Potential Phase 2C Supplementary Parents,

In addition to above responses we shared yesterday, we left out 4 more as shown below :

😎 Students observed to be of higher ability for their age cohort will similarly be given slightly more challenging work on occasions to mentally challenge and engage them in school.
We currently have a good number of them in P1 this year and they are enjoying their learning! :imcool:

                  9) There's also emphasis on healthy living in school. Hence, we encourage West Springers to be involved in physical activity during recess, in addition to their physical education lessons.

At the same time, balanced diet food is sold in our canteen in line with health promotion board's recommendations.

We encourage children to learn to love eating vegetables and fruit from young. So each set meal sold in our canteen is accompanied by a slice of fruit each day.

We've also placed the menu on our school website so that parents are aware of the types of food sold in school.

                  10) Students at the lower primary levels who are observed to be stronger in their mother tongue languages will also be stretched through slightly higher level materials being exposed to them during MT lessons.

                  11) You may register using the P1-IS from 9am on Sunday, 10 August 2014 to 4.30pm on Tuesday,12 August 2014.

Alternatively, you may come to West Spring Primary School to register for Phase 2C Supplementary on Tuesday and Wednesday (12 Aug - 13 Aug) at 8.00am - 11am and 2.30pm - 4.30pm.

                    Hi WSPS,

You mentioned that students are not banded. Does that means there are no streaming in P3/P4 onwards?

                    Appreciate your reply. Thanks!

                      Dear Dearzen,

At the end of P4, compulsory Subject-based Banding will take place in all primary schools in Singapore.

Students will take a combination of Standard and/or Foundation subjects, depending on his/her strengths and needs. Foundation subjects allow the child to better focus on building his/her fundamentals.

Parents will be briefed more on this matter when their children are in P4. 😄
