Finn Finn - yes, first choice mcs but I worry need balloting for applicant staying more than 2km. I want to secure a place without balloting. Chij olgc is 1-2km and last year stat was ballot for spr. Even though left with 9 places I hope sc still stand a good chance.

I think last year stats was balloting for PR in 2C. Don’t think OLGC entered 2CS last year, so 9 seats for 1-2km might be risky. But good luck! Hope there’s no balloting for you![/quote]

Hi TKChua, I think you still stand a good chance but suggest you monitor closely with the school to avoid balloting. I think last year balloting for sc >2km in 2C. This year seemed less competitive for all girls sch in 2C. Wonder if 2008 got less girls.[/quote]

You enrolled your girl in IJ Katong then u withdrew and moved your DD to OLGC?

I am an old girl for IJ Katong but it’s too far fr my plc at YCK so I opted for OLGC. I did registered my girl in her bros’ school initially under Phase 1 but I withdrew at Phase 2C. It was risky for me cos I m outside 2km but thankfully she managed to get in.

I recd the yellow slip that the orientation is on 1 Nov. It clashes with her K2 graduation ceremony. Same timing. Now I m fretting which to send her to. She doesn’t want to miss either.

Yes I did cos initially I was very confident that there must be school bus coming to my area as it was only 7.8km from my house. I am really left with no choice but to give up as I had called the bus operator many times and they confirmed there is no way they can come to my area. However, god had helped me to get my dd registered with OLGC without balloting instead. I am really glad as OLGC was initally my first choice and I hope my dd will enjoy her learning journey in OLGC.

Why don’t you call the school to find out if there is another orientation day? I’m sure the school will cater to some parents who can’t make it like you.

I tik my girl will love to meet some of her classmates on the day of the orientation. I'll b checking with her kindy and OLGC what the schedules are so I can see which part to take her out.

Please exchange numbers with moms from your dd’s class…form a Whatsapp group chat!! It’ll save you alot of headache later on as communications is not big with some of the teachers… when my dd started P1 there and we did that…thank God else we would have missed out on instructions. …
