      Hi Mrs Tan,

I do understand how you feel as we are working parents as well. It truly is a dilemma. My heart goes out to you as it is upsetting when a young child gets emotional when their parents are unable to attend a special event. Please understand that the school is trying its very best to encourage all parents to attend these events. However, it is not compulsory and the school does not expect that all parents are able to attend. They only wish to include the parents into the school life of their children. It is heartening to see the school doing this, especially as most schools prefer to keep the events only for their students and not for the parents.

West Spring Primary is a family friendly school, where it considers all parents and guardians to be an essential partner with the school. I believe, which I am sure you do as well, the school is doing an amazing job with the children. If you were unable to attend an event, the school keeps parents updated on its website with photos of the occassion.

Please do not feel disheartened that you are not able to be there at every event. In the years to come your daughter will understand. In the meantime, keep reassuring her on how much you would like to be there but it is difficult due to your work commitments.

      To all parents,
this forum is a great way to communicate with one another and with the school. I would like to suggest if there were any urgent matters, please contact the school directly on 6314 4192. Madam Noor and her friendly team will be happy to assist you with your enquiry.

      God bless all of you.
Dear Tenko & Parents / Guardians,

      :salute:
Thanks Tenko for your help in encouraging parents / guardians to call the school for urgent queries on school matters as we may not be able to respond to such queries in time on the forum.

Parents / Guardians also need to check their children’s handbook every day for updated information on school matters as we use the Student Handbook as one of our means of communicating with parents / guardians, in addition to the ‘Letter from the Principal’ to parents and our website. :please:

We’ve noticed that a few parents / guardians had been posting queries on this forum even though we’d already communicated such information clearly through the above-mentioned modes of communication.

We seek parents / guardians’ cooperation on this matter so that our admin staff won’t be unduly taxed having to respond to such queries time and again. :please:

        Imami:
How I wish the school my child will be attending would be as open in communication and welcome the involvement of parents as west spring! Most parents don't see the hard work which the organizer (in this case, west spring) puts in when inviting parents to the school activities. It's a thankless job.

As wsp grows, there will come a time when it is no longer feasible to invite parents. Cherish the opportunity while it lasts.
        :lovesite:

        Dear Imami,
Thanks for your encouraging comments! :goodpost:

Thanks for the reply! My child may not be able to pass down important messages to me.

I was not aware about the home science thing too , please let the kids write on the handbook for better communication as not all kid are able to convey message to their parent ( like my child 😞 ) Thanks for the understanding!
          Dear Free2pop,

A slip of paper with information on the event was given out to students to be attached to their handbooks for parents to refer to. 😉

            Starkids:

Many of my friends are so envy that we were invited to attend events at the school. We really need to cherish the opportunties we have now. I believe as the school grows with more students and parents, maybe such opportunity will become lesser. We are working parents as well, I also have limited annual leave and I will take leave for event that last 2 or more hours. For those \"short lunch events\", i do communicate with my boss that i will take slightly longer lunch to attend school's events and i do compensate by working late that day. Alternatively, I will also ask my child whether he will be performing or participate for that event. If he/she does, I will try my best to attend to render him/her support.

Separately, I would like to ask whether there will be school o 5 Sep? I read the parents letters, it stated September holiday starts on 6 Sep, but just want to re-confirm as I heard there is no school on 5 Sep in some schools.

            Hi Starkids,
Friday 5th September is a holiday for all schools. It is for TEACHER'S DAY.
Please do try to join us for the Teacher's Day celebration at the school on 4th September. :thankyou:

            :thankyou: Tenko 😄

            Dear Starkids,

According to the “Letter to Parents from the Principal\" dated 15 July 2014, it was stated on page 4, Point 5.1, that 5 September 2014, Friday is Teachers’ Day and will be a school holiday. 🕺 🕺 :dancing:

              Hi,

My son have math test on next week (1-4 Sept). The test format is similar to Tropical test 3 and now I have a problem here. His worksheets and tropical test 3 are all filed in his blue math file and my son don't have the blue file with him. Can anyone here help me by posting the tropical test 3 here?
              TIA 😉

                  Hi Free2pop,
Don't panic! At the end of the day the teacher would understand if your child could not do the homework. As far as I know there wasn't any science homework. However, each class has their own projects and assignments. Therefore I wouldn't be able to confirm if there were or weren't homework for your child.

My suggestion would be to write a short to the form teacher explaining the situation. It would be advisable to attach the note to the student diary. You may also wish to email the teacher directly( emails can be found on the school website under OUR PEOPLE) or telephone the school and ask for the teacher to telephone you at a time convenient for the teacher and for you.

Try to enjoy your weekend. 😄

                    Hi Piggycuties,

I am unable to help you with this as my son's folder is also at school. Try not to get too anxious about the test. The teachers have prepared the students already.
                    Enjoy your weekend. 😄

                        Dear Free2pop,

West Springers who chose to participate in Scientists@PLAY during recess would have been given a note upon completion of task for them to show their parents.

Parents may then continue to engage their children in science at home.

                        All recess activities are optional.
So each child is empowered to make his/her own decision based on interest. :imcool:

West Springers have to spend first half of recess eating first before being allowed to participate in PLAY during recess. 🕺
