My girl started with lift off late last year, she can read sight words well just that blending may need some improvement, ( spelling in her cc was s breeze for her n she likes reading on her own)her level was somewhat stucked in between lift off n psf, the teacher recommended to build up her foundation so I decided to sign up e 33 liftoff class, she will be taking her last term soon n only start sucess 1 ard July this year( she’s p1 this year) actually my concern for her was her grammar n sentence construction n I thought it would be more beneficial if she starts with success 1, bt I do coach her on my own n let her do assessment books dealing with grammar vocabulary etc, it would be gd to think thru which area ur child really needs help with since it’s a 3 terms course

Hmm after starting this term in sucess one I feel that She should have skipped lift off class n instead join success one right frm beginning of this year. They have grammar n compre ( mcq) etc as hw , open ended compre etc in sch. I feel I can guide her too on my own by giving her similar questions in assessment books. Thres a change of teacher as e prev teacher is off on the day of her class. So far the 2 composition she’s has filled in e workbook is not written by her but was asked to copy frm teacher. They were taught something like pic mind mapping with words in point form to decscribe each pic. I have yet to talk to the teacher how she actually taught them how to write a compo n how she can help with my child who has missed 2 terms in sucess one class. I hope they would not be asked to copy a model compo each n every time . Would like to see how my girl can write on her own n how she can improve it. To be fair, she’s has just started this new class, would give her more time to see if she enjoys n if it benefits her. Shall talk to the teacher to find out more during nxt week’s meeting . Hope to hear frm other parents whose kids r in their success class.
