My impression is that they keep to 4H2. H3 is not counted for university admission.Want to check with you all - any of your kids plan to take H3 subject next year (if qualify).
If yes, do they plan to drop 1H2 subject to H1 or still retain 4 H2 subjects.
Those mums whose kids are in JC2, can you pls advise/share?
And for those who have taken H3 subjects before in JC, can you also pls share? -

My impression is that pupils who take up H3 likely for building up their portfolios for scholarship applications....
So dont quite make sense if drop 1 H2 to H1... -

My kids are not in that phase, but this is based on others (friends' kids, church kids). As far as I hear, it really depends on the students' performance. Those who are managing ok with 4 H2s will continue, but those who are struggling may be advised by the JC to drop one to H1. Those who are really doing poorly may be asked to repeat JC1. An H3 subject will only be taken by those who are coping well and are judged able to manage. I don't know the proportions of each group, though I expect it will vary across JCs depending on the abilities of their cohort.Want to check with you all - any of your kids plan to take H3 subject next year (if qualify).

Those who qualify to take H3 typically take 1 H3 and 4 H2.
There are students who choose to take 2 H3, 3 H2 and 1 H1. (Taking 2 H3 and 4 H2 requires MOE approval, and is reserved for very top students)
In my opinion, 1 H3 4 H2 > 2 H3 3 H2 1 H1 -
My dd starts her 1st subject for Promo this Monday n she is super stressed!

You asked about H3. Is your dd planning to take up H3 next year? Which subject? -

She is thinking of but don't know which subject.
She is so fickle - one minute she wants this, the next minute she changes her mind.
So I don't think I shld take her words seriously.

I don't think so. She is just an average student. She likes to push herself to the limits n I think she is seow!!!!
Forgot to add - that is why I don't take her words seriously. So I asked for opinions here so that I can dissuade her from taking this suicidal step.
What about yours? -
