ruaqt,
Some parents ask so many questions, like expecting teachers to do miracles. Will try to reach the school earlier than time slot and hope to meet all teachers.
jennifer,
We have to meet 3 teachers - CL, Eng, Math/Science.
This PTM will most prob be knowing what the teachers think and finding out how son behaves in school. -
I think some parents do not understand the purpose of PTM. Ever saw parents just continued to dwell on past misbehaviour rather than ask how to help the child to move on. Seen a few parents scolding their children too.
Most of the time, the teachers teach more than 1 level. Last year we had to see a teacher who was teaching 3 classes. Imagine the wait.
So do prepare some simple board games, bring along a story book, etc for the children. And snacks & drinks too. -
Scolding the kids in public is a foolish thing to do. Children should be educated at home, not outside for all to see.

Jennifer:
Is it like one teacher one queue or one teacher with two or more queues depending on the number of classes she has?

Thanks. -
ruaqt,
One teacher one queue for that class.
I don't know how it is arranged esp if the teacher teaches other levels. Fortunately my son's FT teaches Math & Science, so will have to meet 3 teachers...hopefully won't have parents in front asking questions not related

Our experience, it was only one q for one teacher for all classes she took.ruaqt,

I was so fedup that I loudly complained why exceeded time limit for so much. And also dropped hints to other parents waiting for the same teacher that one cannot be so inconsiderate. -
Hi
DS's CL teacher will call parents up.Reason: she has to meet parents from her form class. at least i have one less teacher to meet.

do you agree that good schools have the good results thanks to the diligent parents instead of the school and neighbourhood schools have the good results thanks to the schools? Thanks for all your replies. Jennifer, that was my concern, good science teachers not teaching science and their valuable expertise were not utilised or rather wasted.
I am worried that we end up doing all the coaching and learnng thru guidebooks and assessments. It defeats the purpose of what science should be teaching the kids: a spirit of exploration and a sense of curiosity.
IJJ, Pei Hwa results are usually above national average cos many diligent parents contributed to that too.
Call me kiasu, but I am worried that an incompetent science teacher will cause me to have to 'work harder' in coaching my dd's science. If a good teacher can inspire her for science, which she is currently still very interested, will make my job easier at home. Haha....
Why I am so particular about science and not other subjects cos science is not something you can practise like math but need to hv analytical minds and apply the concepts learn creatively as questions will vary greatly during PSLE so if don't get a good science teacher who can motivate the kids to retain and apply their knowledge, they will soon forget what they learn, not to mention applying concepts into challenging questions. -
janet_lee88:
does not means that Pei Hwa gots more Kiasu parents??hehe..Mummies,
Pei Hwa pages are the highest among all the other schools...reason is because there are many ladies here who are so willing to share what they know. :celebrate:
